We had our hens all start to sit. They sit all over because some didn’t want to sit in available coop. One hen hatched a few in the woods and abandoned the rest. We found nest and checked the eggs were alive so we put them under a heat lamp (no incubator) one started hatching and stopped it struggled so we helped it. It was gasping and stuff but the inside of the shell there was a gross looking green puss where the yolk normally is and looking close inside him. What caused this? This little guy is struggling. I will say recently viral or bacterial something took out every baby except one on our farm and only the adults survived with rooster booster and cordid (didn’t know what to do when the losses started) I was not sure if this is connected didn’t see the hatched egg of other birds. I have a lot hatching out should I be concerned this is the first from that nest she don’t have with her. The ones with her look fine.
