Green thumb is itching, anyone else?

GA here. We're safe but many are stranded and coworkers spent the night in cars. Horrible.
Going yo feed the animals now and let them ask get a taste of the first snow they've ever seen. My Malinios is loving the snow.
Good luck to your brother and to everyone out here.
Stay home and enjoy the flowers people posted on here.

My green thumb is itching terribly!! SPRING HURRY UP! I'm going crazy! Resorting to testing out seeds I harvested last season just to see if they're good. Even if they don't make it indoors, there's something about those little sprouts rising up out of the soil from a seemingly lifeless seed!

Yup. it's a mess here. Glad to say we're all safe and sound... can't say that for many others. Thousands of kids slept at their schools and folks have been stuck in their cars on the interstates overnight since yesterday morning.

Glad to hear everyone is OK.
The last bad snow we had here on long island they sent the kids to school in my town also. It was so bad all the buses kept getting stuck on the hill out in front of my house. It's not like it's huge some ant hills are bigger. It was snowing even before school started. It's very sad they would risk there lives. I never sent my son to school when it was bad weather out. The next day , I sent him to school with a note that he stayed home 'cause of the stupidity of the superintendent

Maddies, friends just had a seed swap the day we got together at the New England Poultry congress. Can't wait to see what I got.

I collected some marigold seeds this past season and I'm doubtful that they're any good.. could anyone confirm this for me? They turn kind of brown towards the end so that worries me. I know the stiffness rule, some are stuff and others are not. Either way here is a pic for reference. Simple as buying some seeds this year if they aren't any good but it's kind of fun to collect your own.

They're probably fine! If there's any seed that's foolproof it's marigolds. My mom had us collect the seeds when we were little bitty kids, just kept them in envelopes for the next year. Never failed.

You can check to see if there are some good one by putting a few in between some damp paper towels. Keep them slightly damp and check in a few day. See if any germinate. Also a small pot of some kind can be used too.

Marigolds have to be one of the easiest to harvest. The petals are used in some poultry feeds I believe. I'm sure you can find information on savings seeds on the internet highway.

Totaly disgusted here in central Va. the James is frozen in a lot of places and the canal (downtown RVA has snow blowing across it. It is the cold that is getting to me more than the snow, thank goodness we are having a little warm up over the weekend!
My horse is grumpy, my cats are grumpy and my hens just keep on laying! Guess who is the favorite pet this month?

My cats still believe I control the weather... They want out, step on the porch, look around, come back in and meow at me, as to say "Hey, make it stop!". I tried to explain I can't make it stop raining, snowing or make it less cold.. but they're cats, they don't care.
