from the Eastern Shore, Denton to be exact. Good luck with your chickens, when are you planning on telling your husband?

Where in MD are you?

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I'm hoping my husband will eventually calm down. Right now he's fixed in his head that he'll be doing all the work. So, by leaving him out entirely will hopefully show him how I'm really doing it all and he's doing nothing.

I'm in North East, Maryland, upper eastern Cecil county to be exact. Just west of the MD/DE border. And directly south of the MD/PA border. It's like a triangulation point. Very rural here, that's why I love it.

We were just up your way last week picking up some orpington chicks, Elkton to be exact. What kind of chicks are you going to have? We have 2 silkies, a cuckoo and a porcelain they are 11 weeks old, and as of a few days ago we found out the cuckoo is a roo because he has started crowing, lol.

We just got 2 buff orpington chicks last week they are 10 days old!

Hi Laurie,

Welcome from Sparks, MD.... I am very new to the chicken thing too. I have 5 chicks that are two weeks old. I can't wait to post pictures and get opinions as to hen or roosters.

Enjoy your hatch.

Wow! A lot of Marylanders out there! This is excellent to be sure. It seems that my egg provider has a mixed batch, so my chicks will be a mix of RI, silkies, buff orp, amer. and now sure what else. I don't really care. These are pets and eggers for sure. Mutts, yeah my chickens are mutts, as my dad would call them. I like to use the term Hybrids. LOL
