(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Not brand new, but only a couple of years in. First chickens arrived in February, 2021!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
10 -- 9 hens and our rooster, Ralph Macchio.

(3) What breeds do you have?
A variety. Leghorn, Rhode Island Reds, New Hampshire Red, Welsummer, Barred Rock, Black sex-link and Amber sex-link.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
We love sitting with them and "watching the chicken channel." And their eggs are wonderful, of course! =)

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Smoking BBQ, Gardening

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We're a small family of three, with my wife, our son, and me. I work in IT managed services. Our son is just learning to drive w/his learner's permit.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
Found BYC from googling a question on coop-building! After reading a few posts, I knew it just made sense to join the crew. =)

Hey fellow Buckeye! Welcome! We are waaaaaaaaaay down in Southern Ohio - Pike County, just spitting distance to the Ohio River. I’ve had chooks for five or six years now. I keep fourteen or so. Right now I have five five year old girls (two EEers, a SF, a Speckled Sussex, and a blue Cochin. I have five Brahmas who are going to be two, and four pullets who are almost a year old (a Barnevelder, a partridge Cochin, and two SFs). Hubby and I used to be a competition BBQ team when we lived in Maryland and still eat well but don’t compete anymore. My birds are definitely pets, they’ll never end up in the Traeger!

Love it! What a flock!! We definitely don't plan on eating ours, either. When the time comes, we'll have to give them away to someone who will benefit.
