The name is Caidyn and my wife and I are planning on getting a small flock of about 4-5 hens going. Never had chickens before so this is both exciting and nerve wracking! I'm currently building a coop out of mostly repurposed materials (i.e. pallets, extra wood, homemade feeders, etc) since we are on a serious budget and I want to challenge myself to be as sustainable as possible. I am hoping to have it complete within the next 2-3 weeks and be ready for some chicks.
I actually have a question already and couldn't find much in terms of an answer thru google searching, so I thought I'd ask here.
I'm a science teacher and I'm getting ready to do a unit on life science with my students. For this, I thought I'd take on the challenge of hatching eggs in my classroom. For the first time, I have decided on a simply incubator and egg kit. The eggs are Corturnix Quails. My question is...
Can I house these quails with my chickens? What are the primary concerns by doing this?
Hopefully you can see the picture here. Took this last night after I was done building for the evening.
