What do you all think about Grogel plus? Is it given as food or as a water supplement? Is it better to just stick with the basics? I am new at this. [IMG]

It is not a supplement that should be added, it is a gel that hydrates the chicks and gives them nutrients during shipping. I dont use it and have no problem, however i do use quick chik in the water.

I use both Grow Gel Plus and Quik Chik. The Grow Gel is mixed with water and added to the food as soon as the chicks arrive. It helps to overcome shipping stress by adding hydration and nutrients after shipping. The Quik Chik is vitamins and electrolyes. I also keep some Quik Chik on hand in case any of my chickens ever look a bit "off".
Raising chickens is like raising kids. Everyone has their own ideas about how to do things. I don't think there is a wrong or right answer to supplementation of newly arrived chicks, but you need to feel comfortable with your procedures.
Good luck with your chickies!!! [IMG]
