Hi everyone!
I have a question for all you former groomers/serious at-home groomers... are the high velocity dryers worth the price tag? Is there a reasonable home version or alternative?
Today was the quarterly super groom for my sheltie, and my back is feeling it!
I've never used a professional groomer, just regular brushing and a bath/really thorough groom a few times a year or when that undercoat really starts to go.
The SM videos of groomers just blowing out loose undercoat are really tempting!

I don't have one currently but will be getting one.
Im deciding between the Shelandy or the Flying Pig. Shelandys are around $80 wheras the flying pigs are $180, depending on quality though the extra $100 could make a difference.

I use a shop vac. I just move the hose to the other hole that blows the air out. It works amazing and I believe it has pretty much the same power as the pet ones.

The only thing I don’t really like about it is that it only has one level so I can’t make it blow less. Just because I have a cat I want to try it on but I’m afraid the one speed will terrify her. But the one speed works just fine for my dog. Not sure if “speed” is the right word😂

That's a great idea. I might just give that a try!
My other concern was where to do it that would be (relatively) convenient to clean up. How do you handle the resulting furnado?

I personally haven’t had a furnado, my dog hardly sheds at all, but even so, I can definitely tell the difference after he’s been blown. Do you have a garage or something that is fairly bare? Or maybe just doing it in the grass and stopping frequently to gather up the hair before it blows away. Or maybe have a helper who can gather it up while you are blowing.
