Goldens have a double coat, so there's the seasonal shedding, and than the all around shedding. Outdoor dogs develop a thicker coat in winter. Most live in our homes, so the coat doesn't get as thick, but it still bulks up a bit.
Oh so they are seasonal and all the time? I haven’t noticed any difference with him in different seasons, but I keep it so maintained. I think that’s probably why. That makes sense. I’m not really familiar with the shedding habits of outdoor dogs around me. I have a neighbor that has several Great Pyrenees/anatolians, I could ask her

Oh good another thread i need to catch up on haha. This has probably been brought up but my dingleberry doodle got into it with a snake and came home smelling like singed fur and garlic. As soon as I realized she was not, in fact, on fire I kicked her out of the house for the night. And half the next day. Then gave her a baking soda/peroxide/Dawn dish soap bath. Then I washed her face in that pumice stuff mechanics use. Then baking soda and vinegar. Then regular shampoo and lovely conditioner. She smelled ok again. I let her in the house. She started smelling again. Turns out she has been returning to the scene of the crime to roll in the nasty. There are not words for how stupid this dog is. She keeps wanting pets and I’m like “GO away.”

Just had to vent because dogs can be so nasty. I don’t keep chickens in my house and right now I’m starting to regret keeping anything besides a husband in the house. He’s messy enough but at least he doesn’t roll in stink. Usually. I guess axle grease counts. But I don’t have to groom him. *rant over*

I asked her @oldhenlikesdogs and she said they definitely shed seasonally. And they are outside all the time and livestock guardian dogs

Dogs can be ridiculously gross🤣

My Shepherd rolled in some nasty stuff…dead gopher, dead salmon 😖…but that stank washed off. This is some kind of hideous stuff.
That’s bad😭 I’ve been mostly spared since I’ve just had my one dog. Having one allows you to keep everything much more in line. I’ll never go back to having more than one (except if I get a new puppy before the current dog passes)
