We have a broody 1 year old hen. She has been sitting in her box for around a week and today we finally got her up and out of the box. We do have a rooster and will check if the eggs are fertilized. But when we got her out of the box her underside was awful. She had nine eggs under her, one was broken and yoke was everywhere. She had missing feathers all up he stomach and had a very weird looking bruise or cut on her stomach. She acted fine, and went and dust bathed since we did close up the coop to keep her out. We also sprayed elector PSP on her stomach to keep the fly's away. The temperature during that week was rain in the low 50s, to sunny over 80 degrees, so I'm not sure if the weather is important. What should we do? Is the cut bad?

Broody hens pluck their breast feathers to provide skin-to-egg contact and expose the warmth of her skin to the eggs which helps regulate temperatures. The feathers can also line the nest with something soft and warm for chicks.

The bruise is probably from the egg shards of the egg that broke.
Did the egg smell bad? It was probably infertile, went bad, and exploded.
If it doesnt smell bad, she could've just accidentally crushed it.
