No avian vets in my area, so I'll try my local vet today for the injection route.

I'll certainly check her eye out carefully for an obstruction too. Funny how we can miss the obvious when we get stressed!

Ah, the joys of living in Africa...

The only vet in the area who has any training in avian medicine has never heard of Tylan or LS50, so obviously the American meds are not getting here.

He did, however, have some drops which I have to administer orally for five days. and according to him these are the only antibiotics registered for birds in this country.

Hold thumbs...!

If that doesnt work, see if you can get Baytrill , it's a pill form generally.

If those antibiotics don't do the trick, might he be willing to aspirate the infection? Does the bump feel hard or squishy?

I haven't touched it, to be honest...

Wasn't sure if it would hurt her or not, but I'll check with tomorrow's treatment...thanks for the idea!
