This past Saturday, my Polish Mottled Houdan which is appoximately 16 weeks old wasn't eating well & I noticed a scratch & when she blinked a milky looking liquid coming from her left eye. Her right eye looked buggy but no liquid coming from it.

Saturday I began Duramycin in her water & sprayed Vetericyn in her eyes, thinking upper respiratory. I've continued the Duramycin in her water, she's cooped alone in a dog kennel in our home.

During this time I've noticed the scratch looking more like a growth & there is another growth above the eye which I've applied Neosporin to both. I hope someone might have delt with this type of case & can inform me on what I'm dealing with. I want to save her but don't want her to suffer if there isn't anything I can do.

She was eating better & acted more normal until yesterday evening, she drank water but only ate 2 bites, was lethargic & hanging her head down.

This afternoon she is eating lightly, not hanging her head as much, but still not herself.

Thank you, Becky

Could this be Chronic Respiratory Disease??? Please Help, I'm so worried about my other hens.

I have another Polish Hen which does the open mouth breathing but shows no other signs.

Please see the pictures, I'd appreciate input regarding my hens symptoms along with the growths you see around her eye.

I know you're trying a good many of the antibiotics often mentioned, but you might want to consider Tylan injectable. I've used it for respitory infections (swollen eye, runny nose, runy eye) and within 5 days the infection had been eliminated. Just a thought.

Please HELP, see the new picture, any ideas on what I'm dealing with? More growths/lesions have popped up.

Her water is medicated with Duramycin & I've called a vet in town to see about switching to Tylan. Also, I began Electrolytes this morning, she's eating amazingly well & seems stronger. Plus began appling DermaGel to growths/lesions instead of Neosporin.

You can pick up the tylan at places like TSC. It will be in the large livestock section. I went with Tylan 50 and you'll need 3cc syringes and 22 gauge needles. You'll inject 0.5 cc ( half a cc) directly into the breast muscle alternating injection sites. Continue this injection for at least 5 days. Do not go deep into the breast muscle because you don't want to hit the lungs or heart. Also when in the muscle make sure to aspirate (pull the plunger back of the syringe) if blood comes back into the syringe do not inject but change location.

Try to get on this ASAP as the problem seems to be getting worse.

Also the tylan comes in 100ml vial so you'll have a lot left over, so don't be alarmed.

Good Luck
