You are so right!!! Sam Waltham's (did I spell his last name right?) whole concept was American Made. Look what his kids did to his business!!!! I HATE HATE Wal-mart, but what are we to do when there is NO other close business that can compete. We do drive about 60 miles once a month one way just to get to go to other stores and give our business to other smaller ones, but unless we absolutely BOYCOTT WM, and tell them why, this will never end, and I don't think it will then. . .there is always someone out there who tells me "you gotta die of something" (that one always gets me, because while we all are going to die, getting THERE is what is scary and HOW, why tempt fate to make it sooner or harsher?) or cheap people who simply do not care. . .I think there was a thread on here that old what #'s you looked for and that told where it was made . . .amazing how much stuff we think we get from the USA is always "tainted" by someone else. . .it's scary and absolutely enraging at the same time!!!

This is the reply from Indian Summer apple juice. It's sad but he is right; the consumers are partly to blame for the stuff in our stores. Consumers are caught in a squeeze, too, but I feel our country does not have U.S. citizens at heart when trade agreements are made. Somehow, it always gets down to politics, doesn't it, no matter how hard we try to steer clear of it.

"Thank you for your email concerning the use of foreign sourced apple concentrate in our products. As a grower owned cooperative, we appreciate the sensitivity of this change to our labels.

Unfortunately, after years of promoting the Made with USA apples, we have found the market place just does not care. 99% of the public and the store chains that sell the juice just want the cheapest price possible. If the Indian Summer brand was to survive, we had no choice but to become more competitive and change our formula to include concentrate.

We understand the concerns with using concentrate from China. However, 90% of the apple concentrate produced in the world comes from China which greatly limits sources of supply. We have been working hard to pin down a reliable and affordable alternative source. Currently we are using concentrate from Washington. When this juice shows up on store shelves you will not see China on the bottle.

I can tell you that the juice we use is 100% apple juice without additives. All purchased concentrate is subject to authenticity testing even if purchased in the USA. If there is any indication of not being pure, we do not buy it. We also only buy from companies that have third party inspections by USA auditors.

We appreciate your past support and concerns. Although the juice is still mostly fresh pressed US apples, we will blend with concentrate as needed to stay competitive."

I will not shop at Wal-Mart at all. I know many people have no choices (due to Wal-mart) but I have not stepped foot in one in better than ten years and don't plan to start now.

I had a student come from China last year. I found her outside video taping straight up! I asked her what she was taping and she said she could not get over how blue the sky was here and her family did not believe her!

This girl was from a very wealthy connected family in China and she had never seen a sky as blue as ours due to pollution in Beijing......

I have personal issues against china stuff. Along with the tainted dog and cat food ect...We here in South East, LA are in a rebuilding process. Due to shortages of building materials chinese sheetrock(bad stuff) All kinds of neg. issues including health.. I want nothing to do with any thing from china. I have one tiny table from china. All my new replaced furniture is American made...as requested by the Small Business Administration. The thought of eating food from there is sickning...they use human waste as fertlizer.

Seems like every month there's some new contaminated product coming from China and yet the imports continue. I've got to think that they're holding the fact that we owe them so much money over our heads and dictating our import laws.

guys i suggest you shop at chinamart uh wait walmart millions of chinese depend on you for their job while the millions of people in america are all on unemployment and losing their homes i seen on tv where briggs and strattons started making thier engines over there now because they can pay their workers 2 dollars a week or month to build their engines and pay to have them shipped to america and make more profit but what these big companies dont understand if they keep shipping our jobs overseas who is going to be left in america to buy their china made stuff because you can buy that stuff on unemployment.
Sorry for the rant

i love walmart and their products..i have never had any problems with it at all. if they come from china, well thats fine by me too.
i have bought american/local items before and i couldnt tell the difference in quality, to be honest. i will go with the cheapest option i can.

Thats how every sheeple thinks. Its the principal of things! I will pay that extra 2 bucks to keep jobs in this country. Buy your furniture from china and it will be made out of MDF, aka particle board, its no good. Many products made in the US are solid lumber. Huge difference, wake up and smell the flowers, or the harsh contaminates either one!

Edited to add: Sheetrock that is made in China has sickened many people in my state, people get sick and nauseous. Why do they need to shortchange Sheetrock! It is made from gypsum the cheapest material. You cant make a sheet for under 50 cents. If they shortchange the Sheetrock why not something that costs more....think about it.
