GRRR so mad someone added their chickens to my flock

maybe your chickens had a party while you were gone, then these 6 decided to stay

Maybe you could post signs "Animal Dumpers will be shot." The gaul of some people. That would have devastated me - nobody has extra $$$$ anymore, just because they won't care for their animals they think you should. Besides all the trouble and expense they left you to worry about what their "gift" will spread to your chickens.

What the heck? It isn't THAT hard to find a shelter or fellow chicken-keeper to take some animals for free. There is no excuse for dumping animals like that, especially when they are suffering.

Wow. That is worrying that they know your schedule.

I hope they are all well soon. I suspect even if they'd offered them for free people would have refused them once they saw the condition they were in.

Then again, some people just don't care.

I have a 'stray who stayed' dog. He's microchiped and desexed surprisingly but when the Vet tried to call his people no one would answer the phone. Nearly 6 months later we finaly got onto them after leaving oodles of msgs and I get "What dog? We don't have a dog! How did you get this number?!?!"

IDIOTS!!! Apparently the pups cuteness wore off fast, Vet says he was defiantly not a year old when I picked him up playing in traffic.

Lucky for him we were in a position to keep him but I didn't want a 3rd dog!

I was also asked to dump a flea ridden, wormy kitten by an in-law that was given as an unwanted surprise gift. Wanna guess where that spoilt rotten kitten is sleeping right now? Yup, my bed.

I am kind of hoping maybe they were going to ask if I would take them and I just happened not to be home so they figured what the heck, I'll just leave em.......

On another note...how long should I toss the eggs after treating with ivermectin pour on?

I am so sorry you have been dumped on- but I am so glad them chickens found you because you are a good chicken momma. My friend had a chow chow dog dumped by her home a couple years ago - he has turned out to be the best dog she has ever owned --- sometimes blessings are not so well seen in the start , maybe these hens will be such a blessing that you will remember the day they became part of your flock... you are a good soul -

yes I know , they call me " Sunshine Bear " ....

I agree, it is easy to find a home for free laying hens. One thing to consider, very few people like taking a sick bird even if they are laying. I wouldn't take a sick hen laying or not. Dropping this problem on someone else is just wrong, if you don't have the nerve to cull and can not afford the care, you shouldn't have them. Persoanlly if mine get too sick I would cull. Sorry this happened to you.

How crazy. Here at our house someone stole one of our hens...I was so angry.
Crazier still - the hen showed back up five days later. My guess is that some kid (or fool adult) took it as a pet and then realizing they couldn't take care of her, brought her back.
Some people!

To be honest, this is the first thing that came to my mind, not that they were watching you for your schedule. although, if they weren't taking good care of them, they obviously had time to do other stuff so...

Congrats on the additions! If it were me, I'd probably keep them around, at least long enough to see how the egg laying goes, and the health, and then decide to keep or send to camp
