While I never trimmed the butt feathers, my cochin's poop usually landed straight in the butt feathers. Very unsightly. I could see the need in their case!Why would you need to do this ....
I would suggest wrapping the bird like a burrito and trimming that way.EE gets heavy amounts of hard crap stuck on her but for no reason. It get's bad and builds up very quickly and is hard to get off. To get it off we soak her but when it's 20 degress out I don't wanna put her bum in a bucket of water. It has to be handled otherwise left untreated it will literly cover her vent.
