Hey everyone my name Is Clay for the new people that are on here. I am the one that is responsible for starting this. I haven't been in here on a long time because my son was born and I am now a single father. His mother passed away while giving birth. My guniea Maddison died and I need a new in glad my thread is taking off so well

Clay - it's SOOOOOOOO good to hear from you!

Patty and I have been wondering about you and has missed you greatly! I'm very heartbroken to hear about all of your losses - death of your son's mom, your grandfather, and then Madison.

You had lost your grandfather shortly after you started this thread. Very sad to hear this news.

I hope that you have some help with that baby and that you are able to heal with the bond of his love. We are all thinking of you and send a round of thanks for starting this thread.

We know you'll pop in here and there when you have the time and always enjoy hearing from you!

I had James go to the store and grab a bag of pellets which we just mixed with the crumble. Which I do not know why they didn't want to eat them as I soak both crumbles and pellets with rice or oatmeal and other healthy grains, and greens and apples.

Wow! They get fed a gourmet meal at Chez Poulet de Martins!

So does anyone know where I can get me a few Guineas

I currently have 12 Guineas and I am looking at moving to Florida in the next 6 months and don't really want to transport quite that many. I would gladly share a few of my younger ones with you but it would probably be tough getting them to you from here in Iowa. If your going to be in the Midwest soon or if you think of a way to get them to you easily, let me know! Otherwise, you might check craigslist in your area. I've not seen any available commercially this time of year and I know people get them from mail order hatcheries but I'm guessing they probably wouldn't ship well right now with the cold weather.

Lots of good ideas here.  It's amazing how quickly you've taken on all these poultry and you have all these creative juices flowing on how to make things better.  I'm not sure why the food consumption is less.  You'll have to see if it goes back to normal once the storm passes.  There are some days that mine eat more than other days and I just thought for whatever reason, they just weren't hungry that day.  Water consumption varies as well.  If I'm concerned, I'll supplement with meal worms or a bit of bird seed, just so I can see them eating something.  Good luck with the storm!  Hope your power is up and running throughout... that's the worst - to be without power for a long period of time.

No I wouldn't be able to get there anytime soon. I live in pa. I created this thread. I think u are new to this I don't think I've meet u my name Ian clay.

Im thinking about guineas but need the pros and cons to convince my parents
Also anyone know where to get keets in canada?

The biggest con about guineas is that they are LOUD. Thats the only bad thing I can think of them. They are good at protecting chickens tho. Their eggs are small. And they don't lay that much. But they are good flyers too kinda like turkeys.
