Aside from raiding the wild bird feeder, this is what my guineas do all day long in the winter....they get on the porch and look in the door longingly like they want to come in. When I go to open the door, they scatter and act like they weren't remotely interested in what was going on inside! I wish some of them were tame enough to come in like Spiderman and Mary Jane do!
I thought this picture was funny because it looks like Missy (pearl gray) is yelling at Mamabird (buff dundotte). These 2 hens are inseparable. They were my first hens that I got and the first to lay eggs. Every year, they always lay and sit on their eggs at the exact same time and place and mother as a pair so I never know whose eggs belongs to whom!
Cute pic of the girls. They really look like they want to come inside. Spiderman and Mary Jane hang out at the back door and if you don't let them in they go around to the front door. If you open the door Spiderman comes in like he owns the place and Mary Jane of course has to be his shadow and trails along behind him.
Guineapeeps- I love that picture of Missy and Mamabird. They are such pretty girls and you were right it looks like Missy is giving Mamabird a piece of her mind! I continue to be amazed by their individual personalities and their collective social interactions. It's funny that they scatter when you go to open the door and act like they have no interest at all in coming in when you know there's a part of them that would like to be inside with you.
Patty - Mary Jane in Spider-Man act like they're lining up for the early bird special! It's not too far from the truth. They do get special treatment inside your house.
Off to Winston-Salem this morning to surprise four grandkids for breakfast then back to Greensboro to go to the Asheboro zoo. I'll be on the lookout for guinea fowl there. They have a flock at the Syracuse Zoo so maybe they will have some they are as well.
