Dont they look so cute.
Wish mine were that tame they are becoming more and more distant with the family. Ours are getting bossed around by the laying hens right now which is funny as they like to cuddle with them and the girls peck them away from the nests. Guess the boys want to take egg sitting time too.

About a week before Christmas James and I were out for the night feeding and we heard a large pack of Coyote's yipping and howling all of our birds went quiet for about five minutes until the Guineas yelled at them.

Too bad they are becoming more distant... I would have thought once they got settled in, you might find them more approachable. Let us know how those boys make out sitting on the eggs! Pretty silly ... Yipping coyotes are not a fun Christmas gift. Let's hope all they do is yip and not nip. Hopefully, they will keep their distance during the day and not start picking away at the flock.
 
Martinspoultry are all your guineas male? My chickens don't pay any attention to the guineas. My head roo does peck Spiderman in the back sometimes but he ignores him and walks off like that didn't hurt at all. I hope the coyottes stay away from your flock. We've had a hawk in the yard two days in a row. I think it is a coopers hawk it has a big huge tail. i hope it doesn't come back

The tree we have is called a skinny tree. It's for people like us that have no room for a tree so the width is a lot smaller then usual. I couldn't find the tree skirt it was packed away in one of my other Christmas boxes so I just did without one this year.

2 males 2 females, and we live across the street from a cattle farm I think the coyotes were yipping about an afterbirth or something, the cows are calving now. I am hoping too cause i dont want them this close to the house with dog sitting my nieces dog. We didn't have a tree this year, but we had large outdoor Christmas lights hanging on the cattle panels for the run which was cute. Hawks are no fun at all, it has been about a week and a half *knock on wood* that the red tail hasn't showed up.

I did give them all a treat today, i moved about 6 five gallon bucket loads of mulch for them to play in and man did they ever have fun picking for bugs and getting the pinned up energy out. Charlie, Blue and Echo totally ignored Delta while playing but still chase the tar out of her. I am starting to think something might be mentally wrong with her because with the other three freak out over a leaf falling she just does her buckwheat call unlike the panic omg its scary call they do.

We are also getting two new chickens tomorrow for laying hens, Silver Laced Wyandotts, I am excited.

What would be the best action to keep the others from chasing Delta so much? Its to the point now she will hide under our Tom's rear ends to stay away from them.
 
Poor Delta it looks like one of the males would pair off with her. At least she has the turkey to hide under. I don't know if it is to cold there or not to spray them with a water bottle when they go after her. It works with the chickens they do not like to be sprayed with water and will quit bullying and run away.

That is great you are getting some new chickens. Are they full grown or chicks? I love getting chicks but they just grow up way to fast. I would like to keep them baby chicks for at least a year.

Have a great day everyone I am sitting here watching for the hawk. I hope he does not return today.
 
The chickens are 8 months old, that we are getting so only about 2 to 2.5 months older than our hens now.

And its in the 30s right now so a little to cold to spray them. Yesterday was gorgeous though it was in the 50s, we got alot of yard work done and finalizing the pin for safety. We found out that the pin we are building is 256 sq ft, I am putting roosts in the pin for the smaller birds for when the turkeys are strutting like crazy. Our ducks are getting a 176 sq ft pin made out of a trampoline frame. I have tried keeping her near the chickens as she likes to eat with them, and the rest of our bulling Guineas eat with the Turkeys and at times push them right out of their own feeder by body blocking them.
 
My two guineas "sonny and Cher" have been here a little over a month now and they have fit in just fine. It's funny to see them trying to push their way under one of the chickens when they roost at night. They have worked their way around the coop and mixed up the whole coops sleeping arrangements. No one wants to cuddle with them.
It's also funny when my grandchildren go in the back yard cause they squawk like crazy. They don't like my husband either. They are curious about me when I'm out feeding them or just walking around they follow me. They won't let me pick them up but if I talk to them they they seem to talk back. Maybe in time they will trust me enough to let me pet them.
