Guinea talk.

Mine do the whistling, too! I swear I thought I heard my hens doing it too, though! Could have just been me.

I'm going to try to get a video of this. My husband thought the females made the sound as well, but I have never heard my females do this one particular call. The females will make other calls along with the "buckwheat" or "come back", and sometimes they both do a quivering type of whistle that almost sounds like they are distressed, but my males are the only ones making this "sur-real" whistling call.

Patti - that's interesting that Spider is more vocal. Everyone always talks about the females being vocal and your Mary Jane is the quiet shy one.

Mine have started laying......somewhere. It's been in the lower 80's here for a couple weeks, so it's definitely time for babies. Apparently the Bassett Hounds found the nest. They delivered 3 Guinea eggs to the front porch on Sunday evening. We found them when we got home from church. I hope they keep hunting them for me so I won't have to go looking.

I have not heard any of my females do it, just the one older dominant male. Last year when I had keets, they learned that this meant something good to eat, so they would always run to him whenever they heard him make that sound. He even started catching bugs for the little ones and made that noise to let them know he had something good for them!

Im a trouble maker lol. James just got me four australorp chicks to bring my chick total to 22 for this season as we have both talked it over and we are getting rid of the turkeys until we have them their own coop and pin.

And Zeldas voice is in and out so i think she ate a pretzel wrong.

Oh what a great story! My neighbor who is the chicken guru asked if I had ever seen my males feed the females. She mentioned her roosters do this, so much so that they sometimes forgo their own nutrition. I told her I had not seen that behavior with my guineas, but I will let her know that you have seen it between a male and keets. Fascinating!

Those Bassett Hounds are better than the Easter bunny. I'll bet you could easily work with them and have them locate the nest for you - since they already have. You'll be having keets running around there before too long. Do you think the Bassett Hounds will try to collect them as well? 80's - we'll see those temps in July, maybe.... Ha!

Next week is two toulouse goslings, and yup peacocks soon too.

Are those the geese that have the wedding dress feathers? Oh my gosh you are so lucky girl.Peacocks too while you will have to take plenty of pics.

I am not for sure but I think Mary Jane is laying. Their not spotted like they were last year but a tannish color and they've got the pointy end on top. The chickens have been laying on the floor under her table and she is laying there too. I think she counting the chicken eggs as hers too.
