I did not start this topic to create hurt feelings or any kind of tension. I know that a lot of political threads have been shut down on the forum here in the past. This thread will go up in smoke to if everyone cant act civil and be adults. No this topic doesnt have anything to do with chickens. That is why it is in the Me, My chickens and My family. Here there are many non poultry related topics. As for the last 8 years I cant say I agree with everything that has been done in Gov. But I feel it could have been a lot worse. OUr four fathers did base our gov. on Christian beliefs, I cant say if the "Under God has been added to the allegnce after it was first made or if it was in fact made first written that way. The Christian faith has been in our Country from the day of the pilgrims. Even though there is a seperation of church and state. Every President has been sworn in with his hand on the Christian bible. Our fallen soldeirs lay under white crosses in Arlington.And "IN GOD WE TRUST" has been on our currency, until recently with the new Dollar coin.
Go to D.C. and count the number of times you see the word God or Christ. Yes Our wonderful Country was made so that people of all faiths could openly practice them.
There has been a break in stem cell research that has also hit the news this last week. Scientists have some how figure out how to grow non ebryo stem cells. So there wont be anymore controversy on that issue much longer. I have a disease that I could need stem cells. There is no way I would give the life of a child to spare my own. I had my first child when I was 16. I wasnt married, or ready to be a parent. And literally everyone I knew tried forcing me to have a abortion. And I was 6 months into my pregnancy before I told anyone I was pregnant. I was stupid for getting pregnant. But I was smart enough not to sentence my un born baby to death for it. She is now 9 years old. And there is no way I could live with out her in my life. My life wasnt over because I got pregnant, it was just inriched, and was a blessing from GOd. I am by no means wealthy, but I am successful in my life. I graduated high school, and met my Dh and had to more children. And again There is no way I could live a day with out them. And I would gladly stand against anything that would harm a baby. So thankfully there is the new break in science for stem cells. I will try and find that information and get it posted. I dont believe that our next president has to be a Christian, but I do believe that they need to at least say our pledge of allegance......It's part of the job. And I am not totally against all muslim beliefs, as I have not really sat down and studied it. But I do know that we wont be very safe under a man who's family and history has been proved to be against our country to begin with.I did vote for Bush both elections. First Election I really liked him, the second election I felt he was the best canidate to the job at hand because no one else could give any answers to better solve the issues our country is going through. I know we went to war in Iraq because we thought there was W.M.D.'s there. That turned out to be untrue for what ever reason. But I do believe that we shouldnt have kept our backs turned while Sadam was torturing and killing inocent people. Back in the History of fighting in that war, my Grand dad can remember people saying that it wasnt our bussiness fighting in that war, and that there would be no chance of winning. I believe that everyone should have a chance at freedom, and to be freed from evil dictators such as Hitler, and Sadam. I think we shouldnt just pick up our troops and leave imediatly, if we do then we do loose. But if we stay and help them develop a stable democarcy then we win. I do wish we would put more troops into digging Binladden out of his little rabbit hole. I also wish our country would put more into alternative energy sources. How ever I do see a lot of very scary bills that are trying to be pushed through the gov. that is something people need to take notice to. The national idetifaction thing they are trying to pass will put all small farmers and ranchers under having to register their animals with the Gov. This is a vary real threat that has been stirring for amlost if not more than a year. I lead 4-H, and this year they are "Highly recommending" that we Have all livestock,"cows, pigs, sheep, goats, horses, and poultry" micro chip and registered. My duaghter shows poultry, and I know through the leaders meeting that they will soon require that all animals shown will have been registered and micro chipped. This is something I refuse to do. I feel its not their right to know I have hobby chickens in my back yard, and not only can I not afford the fees of doing all of this, but I dont think I own a single chicken that is worth all the hoops of that crap. As for my Guns that is something I will refuse to give up. I dont care if they are "doing this for our own protection or not" My guns are my protection. If there were more responsible gun owners in the world the crime rates would drop. No one in their right mind would try to break into a house were someone owns guns. I also know it wont be long before we will be in lines to have our selves mirco chipped,"for our own safety". I would cut my own arm off if I had one put in it. The level terror that could come out of the Gov. doinbg that is not measurable. I feel it would be the sadest day in history when they do remove the word God from our country. Watching the news and hearing about all these scarry bills and laws that are being pushed makes me very nervous. Our country has been very carefully been put together by some really intellegent people. And their work has kept us free. But I fear that our Freedom, and democracy could easily fall in the near future if people dont start paying close attention to what has been going on. I want to think my kids and grand kids, and all of my family yet to come, can actually live in the land of the free and home of the brave. I am not one to stand in silence, I fight for what I believe in, and I care about the rights of our citizens. Anyway again I am not trying to upset anyone, and i do hope that everyone can remain civil. This can be a good thread full of thoughts and opinions, as long as we dont start attacking everyone who has different opinions than our own. And I ask that if you want to share a difference in opinion dont come out swinging, and be biligerant. I willing tell you all my thoughts and beliefs, and I invite you to share you opion to, just as long as it is not trying to cut down or sling mud at some one elses thoughts. We are all Adults right?
