Guy hammer vs girl hammer

Around 20 oz seems to be the sweet spot for me. One of my coworkers has a 32 I believe. That is a bit much.
Balance is also important. When I was working as a carpenter I had an extremely well balanced 16 oz. hammer that I could drive 16d nails as fast as others using a 22 oz. framing hammer.

Yes. I ended up using a steel handled 20 for a long time. Great balance. Rough on the hands, but I could one-hit reinforced steel plates that a lot of other folks would bounce and ruin the teeth.

First time I used a radial arm saw.........
I didn't hold the wood right, and it kicked back into the actual sawblade. the wood jammed the machine, tripped a circuit breaker, and made the most horrendous snapping screeching sound you could imagine. the woodworking teacher just gave me this look, as if wondering what I did this time, and whether he would need to do paperwork. supposedly, I am the first student in my school's history to trip a breaker on that saw.
The first time my older son used the miter saw I'd been using without incident for more than a year, he managed to jam it in a way that completely broke it. I was thankful he didn't injure himself, though - tools are repalceable.

Same here. The 'dilemma' isn't a guy does better than girl thing.
It is an in individual thing.

I happen to know a lot of capable gals; My work is the "do or be trampled" kind; if a woman can't hold her place, it is not hers for long.
So, she does; those persons are regarded well.

If OP is having an issue with hammering, remember practice makes perfect. To F.A.I.L is your First Attempt In Learning. Try again.

Completely agree, but the FAIL thing does make me think of a WC Fields quote I love: "If at first you don't succeed, try try again. Then quit. There's no point in being a damn fool about it."
