My husband just helped assist a chick hatch that was stuck. Now the chick is lying down and not lifting up his head. Is he warn out from hatching over 2 days? He isn't lifting his head much- possibly wry neck? What can I do to help this poor little guy? Probiotics? I don't want to see him die. He seems to be twitching as well.

I would just leave him to recover for at least 24 hours. Hatching is exhausting and chicks who need assistance are usually weaker than those who hatch by themselves. What he needs now is to be left to rest.

We left him in the incubator. He's lying on his tummy with his legs stuck out straight behind him and nit lifting his head. Poor guy- I hope he makes it but it doesn't look good.

Thank you for your replies. He seems to be doing a little better but I'm pretty sure he has wry neck. His head droops down really low and you can almost feel the crookedness in his neck. Right now he's in a clear container in the brooder so he can still see the other chicks. We tried putting him in with the other chicks just to see what he would do and it was like his equilibrium was off or something and he flopped all over the place. He ended up in his back and had a hard time getting up several times which is why we moved him. I plan on getting the poly vi sol vitamins for him tomorrow.

I left him in the incubator until he was dry. I had to put him in a cup because he was flipping around and ending up on his back. He was the last egg to hatch. I had actually given up on him and was about to turn the incubator Off when I heard him peeping. All other eggs hatched on day 21/22. This was getting in to day 24 and he looked stuck. Everything seemed to be drying out where he started to zip and we were worried he wouldn't be able to get out.
Yes, I've been dipping his beak in electrolytes every hour/ hour and a half.

Sounds like he is getting the best of care keep up the good work
