Hair wrapped around toe! Help! *UPDATE* She is doing good!

Ditto Robin. Do you have a regular vet for other pets? This wouldn't require avian. I'm sure they'd be glad to help the poor little thing.......

My ve reffered me to a crappy vet that told me they can't help us. *sighs*

If it were me I'd get help from a vet to gingerly cut it off before I would use chemicals with unknown effects. Any vet office in the area would probably handle fine - I'm sorry that you had one turn you down - I could never do that were I a vet!
JJ

Another thought - do you think something slippery might help loosen it, like vegetable oil?

Unfortunately we don't have any other vets that would even bother because according to them chickens are disposable. I don't want to put nair on her toe but I can grab it with anything. She really is a sweet heart and ATM it's not hurting her much but I can't get it off

gosh this sucks!

Another poster said that 'a hair has two ends'. You can't find either? Fill a coffee cup with warm water, put the chicks foot in it and swish the water around with your finger and see if either end of the hair comes free. Gently rub your finger on the toe/foot to see if that loosens the hair.

Put the chick on white paper towels with some bright light and see if you can find an end of the hair that way.

I tried this but I can't figure out which way it unwinds because she has kinda like a toe and a half and it's wrapped around both in like a 8. *sighs*

Rub a tiny bit of conditioner on her toe and on the hair and see if that helps. Rinse the conditioner off with warm water and I bet the hair will be slippery enough to come off.

Then you need to get in between them and try to break it. Use a bobby pin or tweezers to try to get to the middle where the two toes are tied together with it. There should be some room in there to get to it, and hopefully you can break it.

I can't get to it. I can only see the hair when I look at the bottom of her foot.

UGH, I wish I was there to help you. Try the conditioner trick that someone else mentioned. See if that works.
