Halloween Hatch-A-Long 2017

Pics
I've been doing more than I should be and my back hasn't been great. But I was just walking to the house and I stepped hard being in a hurry and I felt "poof!" And that was it. It's a chronic injury I'm managing...I've got a few bulging discs. I can't even lift up my glass bowl now to wash eggs...lol. If I can get this week out of the way...I'll be laid up for a while.

Hope u heal up quickly, feel better

:he:tongue:smack:hugs:love
:bowplease get better!

Take good care of yourself, and heal up. My mother is the same way and will find the need to do things she shouldn’t be doing anymore.
So here I am today with chicks hatching, two 1 year olds, and also watching my mom who has done too much this last week, is injured and sick to boot.

Thanks everyone! I've just stopped to ice...so I'm being VERY careful. Hubby did all my chores, finished my laundry and both him and the boy will be helping with anything I can't do...until I can. The guys are really great.:thumbsup

Oh my goodness y'all. There was one partially out of the egg dead. It was alive and hatching around 1pm today, now...totally gone. And one all the way out of the egg...beautiful black silkie baby. It was alive and peeping when I went to the store, came home and walked down the stairs to see the momma bird stepping on its dead lifeless body. I am so upset right now. I tried to revive it but it's gone. I took the rest if the eggs away from her and rushed them to the bator and I still hear peeping...so I hope some of them survive. This makes me really really sad and heartbroken right now.

I see others drop the temp down a bit. I haven't in the past when I stagger hatch. I may have done it for my last hatch but I can't remember the outcome...lol.

I'd try trimming the tape close to the egg and probably do as WVduckchick has suggested. In the past if I had an egg that is cracked/more exposed/experienced more water loss...I put it in a small container with a damp paper towel and a sandwich baggie loosely over the top to hold higher humidity. I've found that successful...but I also don't have a turner in mine.

You're just all ahead of yourself Connie!!:clap
Mine are coming a long early as well!
16 eggs- 9 polish (bantam frizzle), 7 serama
2 polish have hatched and 2 are pipped. The seramas might be a day late?! But I’ll be getting babies all week the way I set this stagger up. At the end of the I have LF tolbunt polish hatching.

Just found two that are pretty much motionless and probably dead. One was zipping, but when I checked, realized it is backwards. Never poked into air cell because it was opposite. Another never zipped, also positioned wrong. So sad, but that’s nature I guess

One more black silkie hatched and is doing good. If the last 2 eggs hatch that will make 13 babies.

I'm so sorry. Good luck with the rest of the hatch!
