Darn! Almost wish I'd waited to buy the eggs I have hatching out this week. They're still cute, though...Coturnix Quail and Ayam Cemanis. The AC's just started pipping last night. The quail are about 5 days old (at least that means they're all close to the same size now...), and they run too fast to get good pictures of them.

Do I get brownie points for the most Halloween-ish chicks at least?

We have a new baby here! My broody silkie, Angel, successfully hatched her one egg that I allowed her to keep on her first attempt at brooding. Could be silkie x BCM or pure silkie since either would give blue babies but we'll see as she feathers in. She definitely has the silkie vaulted skull so she should have a nice crest

My Halloween hatch

My hatch is all done. Out of all my eggs only one little bugger actually hatched on Halloween and she is the littlest of them all. At first they tried to bully her, but now she is the little bully.

Out of 14 eggs donated from someone local, 10 hatched. Sadly 15 were donated, but hubby crushed one before it was even set in the bator.

Out of two shipped eggs, one hatched.

Out of 4 eggs refrigerated for 2-3 weeks, 2 hatched.

They all are active and healthy. For my first hatch I was happy with how many I got. I did realize in the beginning weeks my humidity was way too high. So for next time I will try going dry, until lockdown. Without any water in the bator humidity was 35-45.

I think this incubating thing might be like crack though Pretty addicting!

Oh no, I have call ducks due on the 3rd, and more due... um... crap.... I forgot what day I set them! about a week after that. Might have to do another round of frizzle cochin eggs by then.

Hey!!

I know, it's been a while! I've been moving all over the place and don't even have chickens anymore! But I still have my incubators and plenty of ppl that want to get their eggs hatched! Yippie!

Well, I set early...and I set again! 7 eggs going in my sons kindergarten classroom and some "backups" in Uglybator (gonna sneak them in if any of the classroom eggs bite the dust early!) Lordy if they all hatch I'm in trouble!!!
