Halloween Hatch Along - Setting Oct. 10th

I got a day 23 surprise today when I got home! I checked up on the hatched chicks, and on a whim checked the incubator. I'd pretty much given up on the other eggs, but there was a little chick! Half dry, too, so she must have hatched really quietly in the night.

Well, the babies were getting a little rambunctious so I took them out for a photo shoot! Only four so far but I'm holding out hope for the last two eggs, since one hatched today.

Hi everyone! I haven't updated in a few days as I have been quite busy!

In the end I got 2 little chicks to hatch and the rest must have died at some stage between day 17 and hatch day. I was happy enough to get the 2 to hatch! Unfortunately I had to assist the last one to hatch. Normally I wouldn't have helped... I just didn't want one lonely chick so I was prepared to put in some extra effort to get the last one out!!!

The last little one had curled toes... so it is wearing some booties at the moment. One foot was pretty good and just a bit curled, but the middle toe on the other foot was badly curled. I didn't manage to get it 100% straight in the shoe made of tape as I didn't want to force it... but it still looks a LOT better than before. Fingers crossed the booties work!






I thought it was going to die yesterday as it wouldn't stop peeping! I think it may have been uncomfortable after its toes were taped. This morning it seems much much happier.... I am very relieved!

Chick1043 - Boo is super cute! I haven't named these chicks..... I will be hatching out so many over the next month or so (hopefully) so I'll lose track if I name them!

Pyxis - Any news on the last 2 eggs? You must be happy to have your 4 little babies as they look adorable!

I just un-taped the chick's feet and they have stopped curling up! Yay! So I re taped just the big toes straight this time (it was too hard to get them straight at first) ... so hopefully her? his? feet will look beautiful in another day or 2!

Awww, Chick1043, Boo is adorable and so helpless looking (as they all are the first day or so) So cute!

Congrats on getting the second chick out, TinaK, I had a single chick for 2 days, and UGH, I never want to do that again! He had a mirror and fuzzy toy, but still, so much better once others arrived! Those boots look great! I can't remember, are those Malay you have there? and in your Avatar? So cool!

My two eggs aren't doing a thing yet. I'm giving them another day or two, just in case. The other four are doing great! All are eating and drinking, and are cute as can be!
