Halloween Hatch Along - Setting Oct. 10th

I don't think they hatch early except certain breeds, like Seramas? Are you hatching Seramas? Only some people have reported early hatches on those. If your incubator was running on the warm side, but not warm enough to kill them, they could have developed faster, if cooler, but not cool enough to hurt them, they'll hatch later. It's recommended that you wait at least until day 24, but they almost always hatch day 21 like clockwork!

Nope, they're just EE/OE mixes from my flock. So we'll see! I'm so excited. I kind of hope I wake up to a baby chick running about in there tomorrow, although I'd be totally happy to just see some pips!

There are another 7 in my OE's nest right now...I keep hoping she'll sit (she's gone broody twice in the last year - hatched out 4 of 4 the first time and ended up eating her eggs the second time...although she seems to be cured of that now) so if she hasn't sat by the 10th I might throw whatever eggs she has in with my eggs from MPC. I'm going to have way too many babies here in awhile! lol Hope it stays not-quite-so-cold at night until they feather out...

Woohoooo! My eggs are shipping today!!! I ordered 24, and Roslyn says I am getting close to 3 dozen. @@ Yikes! Looks like I am cranking up two incubators this weekend. My husband and kids are going to pack up and move out! Lol. Oh well... more room for chickens. Loli

Crossing fingers that everyone's eggs ship safe and sound. Don't forget to unwrap them right away so they can breathe, and let them sit still for 12 to 24 hours before putting them in bators.

Vroom vroom crank up those "not so scary magic Halloween hatcher's"!!!

anything yet?

Don't stress. I have a local chicken friend who convinces herself and me that she blew a full hatch, but then magically they all start hatching on day 21 just as intended. : ) happens every time.

Can't wait to hear the good news ... and see PICS!

I haven't candled because I had a battery explode in the flashlight I use to candle with, and the olive eggs are so dark nothing else I have is getting through. So I'm pretty much blind at this point. I did have a REALLY bad expirience with trying to make a styofoam bator (I cooked half-developed chicks *cries*) so I'm nervous even though I was much more thorough with my research and attention to detail this time. lol I've read so many things about peoples' eggs pipping at 18 or 19 days, and so to be on day 20 with nothing to go on makes me nervous! I did go ahead and order a dozen of the educator's eggs from MPC, so hopefully they'll be here in time for setting on the 10th (and I'm assuming if I have any eggs left in the incubator at that point, they aren't going to hatch, right?)
I think it is always better if they hatch on day 21. That is when they are supposed to so it means things went right. I bet you will so lots of little chicks soon!

Can't wait for my Serama eggs! I want another try at this, and hopefully, since she's closer, they'll do better!

My house will be full of chicks next week as well! LOL. Crazy!

Well, the person I'm getting eggs from said she'll be sending them on Tuesday

So hopefully they will arrive on Wednesday or I'll be one day late setting

But Seramas are supposed to hatch a little earlier, so maybe I'll still be on time???

Anyway, I'm really excited for these eggs, and am hoping to have some good luck with them this time
