Hi my name is Annmarie and I am a compulsive Candler. Lol. I candle everyday after day 4 and before day 18. Lol I feel like I know them by the time they hatch.

So exciting to see people joining in on our hatch! : )

my eggs came late so I am a day and a half behind... which really stinks because I will have family here on Halloween all expecting to watch chicks hatch, but will likely not come back to days later to actually see it. : / 8 love to share the hatch. Such a miracle every single time! I wish more people could see it.

Annmarie, be careful about the compulsion, I read somewhere (don't know now where) that excessive candling can cause problems. I know a lot of peeps will be against what I have said... but think of it this way, everything that is born or hatched does so in the dark. So why would we shine a light on them constantly. I understand to do so quickly at day 10 to rid bad eggs and day 18 to do the same. Just my 2 cents. Good Luck with your hatch. I am hatching 6 d'uccle eggs.

Well, MomsGoneMild, Seramas do have a tendency to hatch early, so maybe it'll still happen on time?? I got mine in on the 11th and am still hoping for a Halloween hatch

Well good luck to everyone hatching eggs. I really hope you all have a good hatch and wish to see pictures of the baby chicks after they hatch.

I started October 10th with 18 Araucana eggs I bought off EBay from Georgia 8 Orpington eggs from my flock and 5 Bantam Cochin eggs from my flock. I just candled today at day 14 that is when I like to candle just my preference, and it looks, like 11 Araucana 7 Orpington and 2 Cochin have some development at 14 days. Just hope they continue to on to hatch.

That sounds quite decent, Martha! I hope those that got this far hatch as well!

I've got 14 minutes before I have to go to the dentist, LOL, so I'm goofing off here, not enough time to candle though. Hope I can do that later tonight

It's hopeless! I can't stop. I am just going to have to settle for hatching only light hardy chicks.

Hope all goes well at the dentist! Good luck on the candling, hope they are developing. Goofing around on BYC is a great way to spend your time.

Well, all went well at the dentist, but I'm afraid I lost 3 more eggs I now have 8 left. I left the 3 in there in case I can't see correctly, but really, there was no movement to be seen, so I figure they're dead Well, if 8 hatch, I'd still be glad!
