I love it, now my ds is getting some trucks and heading for the brooder.
These poor little chicks are soo young for this kind of play, sigh.
Maybe it's time to move to the Raising Chicks forum...
haha, it was just kind of coincidence with the tractor. My husband and I were taking pictures of the babies and our 14 month old son wanted to see. He had his tractor in his hand and set it down next to the brooder. After we left him see them he just went on to something else and let it lay there. I happened to look down and giggled and my husband just looked at me and i said are you thinking what im thinking. He chuckled and grabbed a baby and well... I just couldnt resist!
Oh you guys ..... all the photos are wonderful! I love how you have the props and backgrounds ... so cool! Thanks for sharing them! I still think we should mention to the administrators about having a contest for the next calender. We have some real potential winners here!
End of Halloween Hatch, part 2 (of 3 part staggered hatch) update: I ended up with 15 out of 16 Lavender Orpington project eggs hatched! I have 3 black, 1 mottled, and 11 Lavender. They are oh so cute. I will need to take a group photo when I am finished with part 3 (Delawares on Nov 5).
Well I woke up to a total of 4 very healthy babies yesterday....sadly when we came home from trick or treating one had hatched with it's intestines on the outside...it was still wet and very cold but alive and the mom decided not to lay on it or her eggs...
I took out the baby and ended it's misery with my husband's disapproval but I couldn't just let it suffer...
This morning it was cold and the 6 unhatched eggs were not sat on by the mom so I cracked open the air hole part of the egg and found a dead chick, almost ready to hatch and opened another to find it still alive and with the eggshell still open I placed it back under mama...what are the chances that it will be ok?
I am sad for the loss of 2 and maybe a total of 7 but I'm so grateful for the 4 we have..
Out of my 2 doz Hattrick Silkie eggs, I have 5 babies. Kinda disappointing in a way, but on the other hand they were shipped allthe way across the whole country, and at least I have 5 super fluff cuties. 2 more eggs are still in there, praying for a miracle. Candled them and babies are full-term, but I can't see movement. To wait longer or to crack on the air cell?... Some were hatched Friday the 30th, some Sat the 31st. What do you all think?
