Halloween ~ Hatch Day!

Since I have no pips (it's really just the end of day 18 now, so I don't expect a pip for another 24 hours or so), I had to go baby my juvies, who were just moved to the coop last night. They're so cute. Can't wait for the newest babies.

APage--If there aren't anymore hatching or to be hatched, then it wouldn't hurt to give them water.

kimbpara---They can survive for 72 hours without food or water, but they will dehydrate very quickly in the incubator. It is best to remove them to the brooder after 24 hours, and give them food and water.

If a chick is peeping a lot, something is wrong. Either cold, hot, hungry thirsty, sick, lonely...but something is not right for them to be crying a lot.

We have our 1st chick! It is yellow!

It was one of my OE Banties. The little feller is peeping his little lungs out! LOL

The other is still just a little pip but has started rocking again. The silkie rocked a bit too but nothing again.

I will try & post pics tomorrow. I am to tired to get them downloaded & resized & all right now...it is after 1:00 a.m. The 1st was hatched around 11:15 but we were watching a movie....lol

Good morning fellow hatchers!! I'm up to 3 babies, another half-way out, and about 10 more pips! And my Black Copper Marans are pipping!!!

good morning I have 4 out and 8 more pipping, It has been a long night. might lose one not sure. Never had this before but one had something come out of its hind end looked like a piece of liver. It wasnt but that is what it looked like. It was dripping blood everywhere,By walking it tore it off and now there is a tube looking thing hanging out of her rear end, I have hatched for a long time and never seen this. Dont know if she will make it or not.

Our wee barred rock survivor has made it through the night and is sitting in my bread proofer gaining strength for his introduction to the crowd of irregulars.

I haven't checked any of the other eggs yet because it would wake up the cockatoo early and that DEFINES the concept BAD IDEA.

I probably have a bator of death left but until they leak, I'm going to give it a few more days.

The lone chick has a stuffed GSD for company. He's got a medium sized white dot on his head where guys go bald in back. His name is Ponder.

All birds not laying are assumed male until proven otherwise, saves me a LOT of aggravation.

There's food and water in there but he's not lots interested yet. He's dry though the feathers on his back didn't fluff.

Congrats to you all with your hatchlings!

Hugs.
