No way! Did you see the youtube link I posted? It's called How Baby Chicks Are Made ...I'd rather go through the ups and downs of hatching than know my babies went through that!

Especially now that I've gone through it!

I came in for a break to check the bator & one of the silkie eggs had a pretty large piece of dried membrane covering the chick & the shell was off so I quick took him out & gently peeled it back & now he is ready to come on out! I don't know why it was so dry the humidity was about 67.

Still nothing on the one pressumed dead, when should I take it out? Or should I make a tiny pip hole to see if it needs help?

Well, all 25 hatched here. Why do chicks get like suran wrapped with the inner membrane? Near the end of the hatch, I had to help a couple out because I could see inside the egg and knew they were gonna die. Was my hatch too wet? My humidity has been around 70-80% for the last 3 days.

They get shrink wrapped in the membrane because at some time, the humidity was too low. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please.)

I keep mine right around 50% seems to me when you get it higher than that the chicks don't dry right.....and yes it is like glue on them if it is high. I have heard others keep it at 70% is there a magic number?
