Halloween/Thanksgiving Hatch-a-Long 2019

thinking about setting eggs today. I wanted to hatch quail but my quail just stopped laying i'm not sure why. Maybe I can find some eggs though.
One thing about free ranging mine. They make great Easter bunnies when it comes to hiding them. Either they stopped laying or there’s a lot of eggs out there.

Received a gift of three Muscovy duck eggs (assuming Muscovy, as the father of these eggs has a red and bumpy face) yesterday, and you guessed it... they're in the incubator.
My first duck hatching. I have the incubator set at 99.5*F, forced air incubator. I intend to dry hatch as my experience with added humidity in my climate with both quail and chickens has resulted in drownings. My research indicates that most duck eggs require 28 days, but Muscovy requires 35. I have the day-minder on the incubator set for 35 days, but will candle them at day 25 to further confirm or deny what breed of duck they are, and determine if candling day is also lock down day, etc. I've heard that Muscovy eggs are hard to incubate, but I'm determined to give it a go.

I feel like a child on Easter morning some days when my chickens lay eggs in random places. I couldn't imagine looking for little quail eggs, I would be looking for days

Very interested to see the progress on your eggs. I have Pekin ducklings (all female) and I believe a muscovy Drake. I'll be breeding them and incubating the eggs when they start laying in the spring. I have heard the muscovy are harder to hatch, but I've yet to know anyone who has done it. I do not know anyone who even owns them besides a few on BYC.

I live in Panama; apparently they're common here.

Im not surprised theyre common down there i bet those carknuckles(sp?) on their face help them stay cooler. Theyre very popular around here too. Mr Robby called them 'the steak of poultry.' Then says when i play w ducks thats the direction he recommends i take. He also says misting makes a big difference so u should look into that. I dont know enough to advise on it.
