Halloween/Thanksgiving Hatch-a-Long 2019

We had an “unplanned” HAL!!! I have baby finches!!! I was checking the nest today to remove what I thought were non-fertile eggs and they’ve hatched!!! One baby is gone as it fell out of nest at some point today and not absolutely sure how many are in there for sure but I felt babies and DH saw movement so we left them alone. DH is excited and says we better get moving on a larger cage!!!

Broomhilda. Not exactly a Halloween chick, born 10/22. It looks like she might be an only child as the other two haven't pipped. She is 1/4 blue orp 1/4 ameraucana & 1/2 black langshan. No canceling.. mom (the langshan) doesn't like her eggs disturbed.

yes it’s the zebras in with the buttons.....i can’t get a pic DH was able to see movement after i felt around looking for eggs and realized there were babiesone didnt make it and had either already already fallen out or i knocked it out.....i disposed of it already.....just got some boiled quail egg in the cage and trying to sprout seed and find appropriate greens based on @Serin helpful information...... they survive and i haven’t screwed things up too much!!!

With a week to go, I am able to better tell which eggs are developing. I have five that seem good, one I think is fine, one that I think is recently dead, and one that looks like it quit after a week.

just finished candling small bator and pulled 2 early quitters....19 left in there still going but didn’t get as much strong movement as in the eggs candled yesterday.....looks like maybe they are slightly further in development as the eggs were more difficult to see into?? temp on that one is more to high side vs low and humidity stays a bit lower too.
