Halloween/Thanksgiving Hatch-a-Long 2019

In general, prefab coops are trash. However, they are great for a quick coop, good for a base as you build around it, AND you can put it up in a shed, or the garage. Put it on a tarp feedbags, or even an old sheet to keep the garage (or your living room floor:lol: ) clean. Then add bedding. The point of putting the coop inside is that we all have to figure out how to winter these babies. Getting them outside can be a pain.

You do not have one in your living room do you?

Keeping the humidity level on low side.
I prefer this way too.
Too high humidity throughout can cause a lot of problems.
I'm going to hatch more eggs in November so I will try it with no water. The humidity is high where I live for the most part I think. Today the outside humidity is 82% inside my house is 62%. So I assume I shouldn't have even added water :he At least I know now! Thanks everyone

This is what I was trying to tell you...that if you are seeing condensation in your bator your humidity is probably too high...but look your hatching out babies.:D

Did you salt test your humidity gauge?

Yes I did. My incubator reads 5% more than the hygrometer. The hygrometer has stayed steady at 55% but jumped to 62% when they started hatching.

I'm going to try it dry next time and see what happens.

The first 18 days you kept it that high? Or that's the numbers for lockdown?

It was 40-50% up until lockdown. But it did get higher so I'd have to take out water. Adding water is a pain to me, I thought you had to add water into the incubator in order for it to work I didn't know that you could do it dry
