Halloween/Thanksgiving Hatch-a-Long 2019

This is kind of a random question but how long do Myshire’s eggs usually take to get here and/or when does he usually ship them out? Right away or?? Trying to decide if I should order some quail eggs to set with the chicken eggs and when I should order them so I can set them 3 days after the chicken ones haha
@Myshire Farm Quail ships fast, it was just a few days after the auctions and my eggs were here, they arrived before my new Incubator!

I won’t!! Maybe. Tbh quail cages are probably way easier and faster to build than a whole new chicken coop. And I was just thinking cause I’m still gonna have tons of room in the incubator...

I have a hatching addiction already and want to fill it :lau

But I don’t want to waste money having birds die cause of my inexperience with it being my first hatch and all.

So I think I will wait on the quail until I have more hatching experience and/or until spring.

I have a feeling this is going to be a COLD winter so I should probably wait. Pretty sure it is going to be very very snowy too. We are due for a real winter. Been very mild recently.

So I’ll probably just get chickens.

Thought about calling and adding more chicken eggs to the order though :lau

But I won’t. :hit
I'm not brave enough to mix the types of eggs in the Incubator, I don't want to screw up the hatch & everyone die! :th

They will all die if you order eggs.
Every one of them...a slow and painful death.
:gig:lau

:lau
I think I will if I have to tend 3 (at least) separate animal pens in the middle of winter. :th
I have goats, ducks, guineas, quail, chickens, and dogs......
What was I thinking????:he

*note to self* when winter is coming and you only want to have a small hatch......don’t set so many of your own eggs!!!! over 40 in the brooder and they are still hatching!!! :th
*note to self* Don't ever order eggs again when you don't have adequate housing available in advance, or Incubators for that matter! :smack

my main issue is that I’m pretty much at max capacity in the aviary....my room isn’t built yet and I can’t throw them outside at 2-3 weeks in winter so grow-out space for 50 is going to be an issue......i’m going to have to get creative!!!
You & me both!!!:highfive:

I have to work on my house for my chicks tomorrow
I've been working on the quail pens. I don't know what I'll do if I have a decent hatch out of these 89 that I set! Where am I gonna put the little buggers???:th

Oh wow that’s fast!!

And oh boy :lau

Hopefully the incubator got there soon after!?

I think I will wait to order quail until spring or at least a while longer haha

Yeah, I’m not sure I’m brave enough either haha I probably won’t do it.

But thankfully I think quail and chickens have similar heat and humidity requirements so it’d work out probably. Just quail hatch sooner. I wouldn’t try to mix like duck and quail or chickens I don’t think haha

X2!! :lau

Kiki is hilarious.

I have goats, ducks, guineas, quail, chickens, and dogs......
What was I thinking????:he

 OMG!! :th

Although tbh I want all of those eventually :lau

Well, except maybe guineas (way too loud lol). But then add on sheep, horses, cats, rabbits, and fish and possibly turkeys :lau

Currently I only have one chicken coop, 4 goldfish (inside atm), and an indoor cat.

But soon I will have a second chicken pen.

And I want quail next.

Or rabbits.

And I really, really want goats and/or sheep.

And maybe a barn cat or two.

I want an entire farm. :lau

I think quail and a dog will be next though. I really need a dog in the house again. :hit

But I might get more chickens before quail. Maybe hatch some sex links in the spring so I can keep them with these unvaccinated chicks. And start making a laying flock to sell eggs maybe. :lau

Then quail.

But actually I need to build a fish pond first for my goldfish. They outgrew their current tank a while ago

I actually have a pond shell I’m gonna use, just gotta buy the filters and stuff.

But I gotta wait till spring now cause you’re not supposed to move fish out in the fall. They need time to adjust and get ready for winter.

So for now I might need to just buy a bigger tank and/or do more water changes ha

Sorry, now I’m rambling. :lau

Anyway, point being, I only have one outdoor animal pen to take care of now thankfully but I’m soon going to have two (two chicken pens) and if I add quail, that’s a ton more. Although I might keep those in the garage.

You seem like you’ve got it mostly figured out now though!!

I want some white turkeys, maybe in the spring. :drool
I am not a good builder, but I am an imaginative one. Things don't always work out like I have them in my head, but they're usually functional.

:yaI like!!! What breed are they, they're nicely colored! :love

I would love to raise my own turkeys to eat too! Bet they’d be tasty. :drool

But they also just have such cool personalities I kinda want some as pets. :lau

You seem like a good builder to me!! Lol not sure I could do that!!

But then again I wouldn’t know cause I’ve never built anything. :lau

And sorry for my massive novel earlier. :lau
