Does it help to know that I’m at least shopping and walking now rather than just standing in one spot? I’m also at the checkout now and I live like 2 minutes from the store so the fish will get done tonight. I swear. Probably within 10 minutes.
i havent stopped....just all gamebirds now. probably won’t do chickens again at this location. (new city ordinance limiting me to 8 outdoor birds and/or rabbits). currently have 5 chukars, 4 pheasant, 100ish coturnix quail (including HAL chicks), 2 BB turkeys, and 2 NZW rabbits outside...4 buttons, and a pair of zebra finches inside. (+3 finch babies that the pair hatched around mid-october)

i got cleared on the birds they “saw” during the inspection. the ordinance is poorly written and not clear on “coturnix”
It is also only enforced by complaint. sooooo, I only have to downsize further IF there is a new complaint. if any of my current birds hatch babies, I have 6 months to return to compliant numbers and if rabbits have babies, I have 1 year to be back down to my numbers.
I probably would never have been subject to the initial inspection if I had not kept my EE cockerel a few weeks too long.

yeah they didn’t like it much when DH explained the numbers we could have well within their restrictions
They were mainly after chickens with the new ordinance and the complaint was that I had a “bunch of chickens”
I had inspection by both code enforcement and animal control by the city and then by CO from state. All 3 approved my set-up and numbers.
I remove at least 12 coturnix every month, the 2 turkeys will be gone as soon (hoping for Thanksgiving but may have to wait until January) and all new rabbits will be removed at 8 weeks.
I’m not planning on removing any pheasants or chukars until spring.
I really did drive straight home, put the groceries away, and get straight to it, and didn’t use my phone at all, but it just took longer than anticipated because I ended up scrubbing/rinsing the filter housing off too cause it was pretty gross and scrubbed the sides and top of the tank too. I told you, once I get into doing something I go crazy.
I probably should have at least added some water first cause that was the most important part.
But I did eventually add it at the end.
But I was working on the tank for like over an hour cause I was cleaning everything.
I could have just added water and changed the filter but I go overboard
Wore myself out running around the house too LOL up and down the stairs a ton for more paper towels and back and forth to the tub to refill the container I was using, etc.
But did get it done.
Finished about 9:30 or just after and now just finished watching an episode of a TV show I missed last week and going to bed haha
Anyway here’s some pictures. Sorry for going a bit off topic.
And some before. I know, I know.... please don’t kill me.
But it’s much better now and they’re getting a new tank probably Wednesday.
I’m gonna but the stock tank ASAP.
I do have one major problem though... I seem to have broken the filter or something when I was cleaning and rinsing!? It didn’t turn on when I plugged it back in!
Guess I will have to buy a new filter tomorrow, which seems rather pointless when I am switching tanks in literally two days and likely never using this one again.
Maybe I’ll just buy a bigger filter in case I ever get a bigger tank.
