Halloween :)

Fall is my favorite season of the year. I begin decorating September 1 and continue adding things here and there until November 30. It then all comes down and Christmas things go up.

I have some vintage and reproduction decorations that I put up indoors for us to enjoy. I don't do a whole lot outdoors since we live on a deadend road and only get about 12 trick-or-treaters each year. However, I do LOVE to carve jack-o-lanterns and have done some on artificial pumpkins. I use the Pumpkin Master patterns. I'll also do a few real ones each year too. I have adults whose kids have grown up come walking up the street just to see them!

We don't have sidewalks or streetlights here so we never get trick-or-treaters. Our town does do a trick-or-trunking at the town hall/fire station. All of the kids go around the parking lot and ball fields and the adults pass out candy out of the trunk of their cars. My neighbor across the street does an all out Halloween party every year! The have made a haunted castle (with strobe lights) and all kinds of decorations that they put on a trail out in the woods. Then they have a haunted hay ride past it all. Some of the older kids are the props and we dress them all up and put makeup on them and they jump out. It is really alot of fun and the kids love it! I usually start helping them mid September and it takes almost until Halloween to get it all ready! I can't wait for this year!

Halloween and April Fools are my favorite! It's so much fun to channel your inner goofball. (Jolyn - I love making catbox cake too). I think I like Halloween best because autumn is my favorite season, with the chilly air and cozy evenings.

Kind of a minor rant, though, does anyone else find that trick-or-treaters have become totally rude? Now that my daughter's too old for trick-or-treating, I'm only going to give out candy for the first hour or so, when the littlest kids are out.

I love Halloween! It's easily my favorite holiday. I decorate my house for Halloween the way most people do for Christmas...or moreso! They go up OCT 1 and come down NOV 1. Unfortunately, not many kids seem to trick or treat anymore. I only have a very few each year...which is a shame since I give out really good stuff! lol I won't be in town for the actual weekend of Halloween this year. I'm spending it in Salem, MA! Can't wait for that!!

I'll still decorate the house for OCT, though.

I love Halloween as well. I think its just fun to see everyone dressed up and walking down the street, since you dont see many any other time of the year! We dont do any spooky decorations, but we always set out a bale of straw with scarecrows, pumpkins, gourds and just, random stuff on the porch. We dont have much room to decorate! I want to go all out when I own my own home. I just think its fun to decorate for any holiday!
