Hey everyone! I'm a part of the SSH club now!!!!
wee.gif
I have 6, 2 week old strait run SSH!!!!
ya.gif
I got them for for beauty and egg laying ability and hopefully they will be able to get away from predators more easily...BUT they are also very docile!!! I read that they were flighty, which is fine, I feel some flighty birds in the flock help save the bigger birds sometimes and they are just so pretty...but these babies...bought from purely poultry are just amazing...in fact every chick I have purchased form them is very docile right out of the shipping box! They never shy away or run for cover when they see me...they run too me as fast as they can :) :) :) I so happy!
Anywhoooo...Here are my picts!!!

and here is #6 SSH...my 2 year old loves to hold them, and dropped this one when I was not around...so it has a hurt leg...it is getting better every day, but I am keeping it with the silkie babies as the others are with 23 total chicks that include Cuckoo Marans, Spangled Sussex, and EE's...
This one will chill with me for hours! and I cannot decide if I want it to be a roo or a hen!!!Haha I think it would be cool to have a roo that would still on my shoulder as I walked around the yard, but I love my hens!

any 'feelings on sex' here

Hey everyone! I'm a part of the GPH club now!!! I had to join because Annabell made me grin!

Wish my pictures were better but here's one of my gold penciled. They are entering their "I used to be cuter" stage.

I had to do it... yours just made me grin! Beware! yours will be entering the "I might be a football player when I grow up" stage soon.

The bird in my avatar is an Appenzeller Spitzhauben... Ihave babies of them, too! See!

I'll probably be booted off for highjacking!

haha not by me! besides I was the one who asked...The babies are just tooo cute...and I now have to have some
love.gif
but back to the thread before we are both booted off!!! I'll join you later on the Appenzeller Spitzhauben thread!

The Hamburgs seem to be more football players than some of my others and are very active and are always jumping chest to chest with one another...establishing pecking order I think :) They were also the first to play the 'keep away' game with some blueberries I put in with them...some of my others tried them...and could not decide...at first...but after my SSH got a hold of one, you would have thought is was the best worm ever...running around like crazy in the brooder with no place to hide...jumping over the other chicks and making that 'Ive got the best treat ever...and you cannot have it' peeps...So of course all the other previously uninterested chicks are now very interested in the treats and are competing to take it away from the SSH...He should have kept his beak closed and just ate it...but I would not have missed it for the world!

They are feisty and very active. I think they will not be intimidated easily. They did seem to stay under the light more than the Redcap chicks (same age) that were in with them.

and even let me pet them so I'm thrilled

this is the very friendly one

one of my favs

this is the darkest one and has almost black feather coming in (I prefer too light to too dark so I'm glad he is the only one this dark but as he is the only one this dark, it makes him unique, and that's cool too
