Hamsters

Well the CX were a miserable failure. New idea is to use Red Rangers (or whatever name you want to call them) in place of the CX. Currently have some that are growing out nicely at 9 weeks old.

my heritage mix roo over cx hen f2 are not hatching well.. eggs are porous and the broody keeps breaking them... and several white ones died the day after hatching. out of 14 eggs I have 5 live ones... only 2 are white, but they are bruser boys. The other 3 are barred.
3 more broodies have had broken eggs... 4 others I haven't seen any broken.

If you are experiencing so many broken eggs from broodies why not use an incubator?

that and I have had a dozen broodies.. :eek:and only one brooder (not that I couldn't make another) ... lots easier to let them do the work
