My little Minion who is suffering from a turned in foot and spraddle legs and is now wearing corrective shoes and leg braces, is unable to feed or water himself. He is only 3 days old this morning. He has worn the shoes since the night of Jan 12th. He does seem to be getting better but I will have to be feeding him and watering him by hand until then. His story here... https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/new-silkie-toes-turned-in-fixing-minions-feet.1216268/ I just need a guide as to the amount he needs to take in and how often. I am feeding a gruel in an oral baby medicine dropper that holds one CC of liquid. The gruel is a mix of his chick starter and water with the electrolytes and probiotics in it. He is learning to hold himself upright when I hold his feet down which is something he could not do on the first day I put his shoes on and we are practicing walking by me moving his feet in walking motions and he keeps his balance while I do it. He just cant do it on his own yet but he is getting stronger.

At three days, he won't be taking in much more than a few teaspoons of food daily. That may double in a week.

Chicks develop so quickly, don't be surprised that he is "fixed" in another week. I would be scattering a little dry crumble around him as you feed him to encourage him to scavenge food on his own and so he doesn't become completely dependent on hand feeding.

How is he now? What is the rest of the story?

sorry about the condition of your chick, I bet you're doing everything in your knowledge to take care of her, I hope she cope on her situation soon.,

Minion grew up. Even with the vet visits, her leg did not get better. She had to hop around. At about a year and a half, while hoping in the grass just about 18 feet away from someone at the barn, a hawk swooped in and killed her. This was taken a week before that happened...
