Hands on hatching and help

It's alright. It's toes are curled tho SP I had to make a tape shoe thing. It did NOT like that LOL.
I'm just worried about the heat lamp because it seems like something up with it and the temperature keeps fluctuating a lot.

I’ve had to use tape shoes many times on chicks. You just have to check the feet every other day because they grow so fast.Common for assisted chicks to have foot/leg problems, because they need to push out of the shell to uncurl their toes.🙂
You might want to get a new lamp if you are having issues or consider a brooder plate.

Hi everyone, so glad I found this thread.... I have a batch hatching, actually all of them already hatched, all but one. The last one started chirping more than 24 hours ago, and I couldn't see a pip so I made a small hole, but I couldn't see the beak!! So I removed part of the air cell shell.

Now I can see the membrane inflating and deflating, the chick chirps a bit (it seems like less than yesterday) and there's a white thing under the membrane (could it be poop?? Yesterday one of the chicks hatched with a bit of poop), but almost no veins.

I don't know what to do, or how to help :-(

Locate the beak, & make a hole in the membrane after the beak is found. The chick should stick it's beak out of the hole.

If you nick a small vein, it's nothing big, they'll bleed alittle, & it's easy to stop with some pressure. You just don't want to accidentally nick a large vein.

Can you get some pictures of what you have done so far?

She seems to be asleep, no movement and no reaction either, still breathing though..

I expanded the hole a bit to locate the beak and I think it was smacking so I assume she's absorbing the yolk... there's a small tearing on the membrane, but it still inflates when she breathes.
How long should I wait now?? Is the white thing yolk??

The veins look about right, so probably another 6 - 24hrs before hatch. Make the tear a tad bit bigger for air.

White is just wastes(Poop), from when it was a developing embryo. Yolk is yellow.

Use some Triple Antibiotic Ointment on the membrane to keep it moist. Make sure it isn't pain Relieving.

I opened it up a bit more so now I can see the beak clearly... That way I'll monitor her behavior.

About antibiotic ointment, I live in Chile and we have nothing of the sort... Would something like Vaseline help??
