that chick still looks wet, and the heat plate looks a little too high. You might want to lower it a little. If the chick is still wet, it should go back in the incubator for about an hour to dry or it could get cold

Hi! I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for advice please. I have a Brinsea still air incubator (Hatchmaker) Its my first time incubating chicken eggs. I'm on day 22. I haven't heard any sounds coming from the eggs. I candled at day 18. All looked to be moving and I locked down. Humidity was 70%. Temp was 37.5. Day 21 came and went with no activity, no sounds, no movement, nothing. I couldn't make out an internal pip on any of the eggs so did a quick water candle. 2 eggs showed movement so they all went back into the incubator. An hour later I had 1 pip but it was near the pointy end. Lots of chirping but hardly any progress with the pipping. None of the other eggs have pipped. I quickly candled again this evening and managed to take the attached photos. Do these look viable? There's no foul smell. No sign of movement. Humidity is still around 70%. Temp is 39 degrees on the brines thermometer (as the instructions state) but 37.5 degrees on the hygrometer/temperature gauge at the egg level. I have never been so stressed in my life!
Humidity is a bit too high.
Did you calibrate your thermometer?
Can you see veins/movement in any of the remaining eggs?

Thank you! Its back in the incubator. I'm concerned its going to be very lonely. Should I try to source a couple of day old chicks if my others don't hatch?

I've got some Golden Cuckoo Marans hatching, they were shipped eggs and quite a lot had a bit messed up air cells. So far, three have hatch, one of which piped on the wrong end and mostly unzipped but was struggling to get out so I helped a bit.
Now there is another one with a pip on the wrong end, I can see it breathing but its not trying to unzip. How long should I wait before getting concerned? Also, another one has pipped and the egg was wobbling, but is not now and there has not been any more progress.
Should I do anything with this one?

For the one at the wrong end, how long ago did it pip? Because the pip is outside of the air cell, it counts as both an internal and external pip, and it means it will be a longer wait until it zips. I wouldnt worry until it reaches the 36-48 hour mark. As long as the pip looks good, and the chick is able to breathe.

For the one with no progress, how long ago was the external pip?
I'll just link the Assisted hatching article so you can have a read if you havent yet, its a really good guide with the ideal timeframes and steps to take etc.

The trouble is I'm not quite sure when either of them piped, the one with no progress was piped when I got up in the morning, which was only 3 or 4 hours ago, but the others which have hatched were piped then to. I don't know if it piped just before I saw it, in which case it hasn't been very long at all.
The one on the wrong end was hidden as it was facing down, so again it don't know. I am slightly concerned that its not quite big enough for it to breathe enough, but I think its probably ok. Thanks for the link, I had actually read it, in fact that how I ended up here.

Did you turn the egg over so that the pip is facing up?
Could you get photos of both pips?
Its probably best to assume that they pipped overnight, so it would be a good idea to make a rough estimate based on that assumption. As long as we can ensure both babies are able to breathe okay, it is safe to wait
