Sounds like you should have a nice hatch! :)
I tried some older eggs (stored at room temp) my last hatch and they didn't do anything either. I think next time I may try storing in the fridge the entire time before I set them and see how they do. Although I'm on day 5 of my current batch in the 'bator so it will be awhile before I can try that... Seems like I'm always planning ahead for the next hatch lol.

That's a thought about the fridge. Might have to try that too. I keep telling myself I'm going to wait and not set any more. My incubator was turned of for 2 whole days.

I also lost another serama last night (2nd one). 8 and 9 days old. Frail little things, they are. These were 2 of the smallest, and near the last to hatch. One other has me a bit concerned, but I think it will be ok. These 2 just seemed to not be thriving and growing. They also had pasty butt. Their navels weren't as closed up at hatch, they healed fine, but I think the scab would catch the poop and help build it up.

I just went into the hospital, got up on the bed, assumed the position and told the babies "Go into the light......into the light...." and they walked right out.
LOL Must be nice.

LOL, Kinda the same for me. Longest labor was 3 hours. No drugs, no epidural. Just breathing

Forceps on the second were not fun though....
My nephews wife was like that for her first. 3-4 hours. And she bragged that she didn't have any drugs. I was like witch please.....My water broke a Sunday morning 10 minutes before 8 and my son finally made his way out Monday morning just after 5am. They had given me this one drug that made me feel drunk and I started puking and blacking out. Then when they finally decided I could have my epideral, they said, Oh. but the anesthesiologist is in Ogdensburg, (the town about 45 minutes from us.) I was like how do you not have an anesthesiologist on hand with a woman in labor??? 3 hours later he shows up and instead of checking me he gives me the epideral and then they check me only to find out I was already 9 cms. NINE!! I could have managed myself ty. Then the epideral stopped everything. and by everything I mean EVERYTHING. I had no pain, but I had no contractions and no feelings. They started upping the pitocin and the dr called for a new batch cause he thouht there was something wrong with it cause they upped it so much and it didn't do anything. When it finally came time to push, my kid was stuck in the canal and I couldn't feel anything when I tried to push. Three (epideral) cuts later, (according to coach and the reasoning for all the blood), I finally managed to bring him into the world, but I couldn't hold him because I was still woozy from all the drugs and puking. The got me into a room around 8, I slept it off and didn't get to hold my baby until somewhere between 11-12 that afternoon. And that's my story...lol Needless to say tubal ligation was in the near future after that.

Sorry to hear that!

The one was enough for me. The delivery room looked like a blood bath, the dr had to wipe his feet off on a towel before leaving the room so he didn't track blood out the door, I had (according to him) between 30-40 stitches and when the nurse came in to roll me to my room all she could say was, "I'm glad I am not housekeeping"....lol  It was all worth it though. Just not something I ever wanted to happen again.....lol

:th poor mama! :hugs

Amy, still no notifications! Guess I have to go to the link you posted.

I just read the post about putting them in the fridge and I was thinking similar. Do you have a basement? I only store my eggs in my basement now. It's a constant 60 degrees with like 100% humidity (I'm not exaggerating but I can't afford to run the dehumidifier down there). Something about the cooler temp and humidity has really been preserving my eggs well.

No basement, but do have other storage areas that stay cool. Hubby's office might be an option.

Also, my old incubator that quit working... the old knockoff Chinese thing... well, the turner was still fine, but plugged directly into the unit's control board. So I ordered a new turner motor, with an attached wall-plug thingy. My thinking was putting it in the FI styro. Wrong! The whole turner is too big. So I debated on how to cut it down to fit. Hubby suggested using it as stand-alone, to turn eggs being stored, and just buy the right turner for the FI. How bout that? He earns his keep every once in a while!

According to my most recent Dr, I never should have been allowed to have a natural birth. In my 20's I had pre-cancerous cells on my cervix and underwent both the lap and the cone on my cervix and it left my cervix "a mess" according to the dr. The scar tissue, she said, was so bad that that was the cause of the problems and I should have had a c-section. The epi stopping everything isn't surprising as I have a low tolerance to drugs, so a normal dose was probably too powerful. I will check that out though as I am curious.

Sorry about your Serama chick :hugs I hope the other one will make it. I haven't tried hatching those yet. I've been hesitant to try them but they sure are the cutest little things!

Lol I said I wasn't going to set anything either

I made it 2 weeks I think.
It seems like lately my hatches have yielded much more males than females My last Marans hatch April 1st, out of 13 chicks only 4 were females, and my mottled Cochins I've got 5 girls of those 13 chicks
1f615.png
So I've got lots of boys to try to find homes for.

After I bought all these Splash Marans eggs in my bator to get a group of splash ladies for my Splash rooster, I discovered he is also producing Birchen males (so he's carrying part silver part gold Birchen gene). So instead of splash females, I need to get him some Birchen ladies. Problem now is, husband has declared no more hatching until he has more time to build on to our breeder pens :he
