Hands on hatching and help

I was just wanting to know 'cause when I finally have some more Leftover Money, (after taking care of phone bill and Multiple Animals) I wanted to buy some Hatching eggs. But I can't buy from BackYard Chickens, we would have to do it from FaceBook.

Yes, the rules to buy from others here do require that you're 18. I'm not sure that anyone is going to be comfortable selling to a minor, unfortunately. You might want to get your parents to buy them for you and just give them the money in return. Paypal is the way most egg sellers are comfortable getting paid for their eggs.

That's Fine. I Can Keep Getting Eggs From A Friend Just Outside San Antonio,(she is in her 40's?) they're free because her Mom is My Neighbor and I have to help her alot. They are mixed breed eggs though. I live in Canyon Lake Which is about a 30-60 minute drive to her place, but hey they're Free. I just was wondering because I wanted specific Breeds. The RIR Hen And Her 6 babies, (Was Told The Mom Is A Purebred, Babies Are Saw The Father), ( there was 7 but I found 1 dead in the coop, no signs of sickness or being attacked), my 2 RIR Roosters, (They're White, would that make them RIW? They're Purebred RIR, I Met The Parents), and the Hatching Eggs I Currently Have Were All Free. The Hen and her Babies, I got from.several blocks away, the Roosters I got from the other side of the Lake, (actually Long Drive) and the Eggs Were From My Friend over just outside San Antonio. Free is Good, but wanting a specific breed and getting mixed breed Eggs Are not the same. I will still love my Mix Breed Baby Chicks when They Hatch, but they are not the specific Breeds I want. Sorry I'm Rambling It Felt Good To Say That. I Better Post This Or I Will Keep Rambling. Lol Haha

BTW I Am Sleeping Next Door At My Grandma's House because the Suspense of Waiting For The Eggs To Hatch, was Unbearable and I would have probably Candled every 15 minutes trying to see when they hatch. I'm bad.

I've been keeping up reading through posts but every time I go to quote something happens and I never get to finish! Way to busy this past week! My call duck hatches are over!! Ravyn was a lifesaver once again! Most of them hatched fine on their own. But a few needed a little to full on assisting. Had one that took forever, ok it was 4 days of assisting but felt like forever. Then when it came out it was a bleeder! Never seen blood before but it was scary. Then the last one also took forever and came out on its own with the yolk sac not closed. But everyone is doing amazing now!! They are all beautiful and extremely active and little piggies that don't stop eating and drinking from the second you put them in the brooder. Don't have a group shot yet but I'll get one, still have one in the incubator. Now the silkie eggs are hatching. I think there is like 5 or 6 pips. Locked down with 2 external pips...oops!

It's Only Been A Few Hours Since The Air Cell Pip And I Am Getting Impatient Waiting For Them To Hatch! Does It Always Feel Like This When Y'all Incubator Hatch?
Yes, it always feel like that. At least with me it does.

Maybe you should involve your parents on this one.
I definitely agree with this one. I won't deal with anyone under 18, even on my fb with our fairly "local" poultry page. Tried that once and it didn't work out. Now I will only sell or deal with over 18.

Paypal is my fav means of paying.

Hey i saw you sell eggs and chicks and everything in between lol. Are their licenses or certifications you need? I've kind of fallen in love with all this and been considering giving it a shot. :)

As far as the table eggs go, there are some different rules/regs depending on how you sell them. For us, we just sell eggs to family, friends, and coworkers and don't take the eggs to farmers markets or stores etc, so per Ohio law, we don't need any licenses or inspections. Our eggs are considered "ungraded, mixed sizes". We can mark cartons that way.

For shipped hatching eggs, most states require health certification (like NPIP papers) with shipments into the state. That being said, I have never heard of a situation where USPS opens a box marked as eggs to check for paperwork. There are many people (especially sellers on eBay) who aren't NPIP and ship all the time.
We do participate in the NPIP program and Avian Influenza H5/H7 testing. In Ohio it was $35 for the year and I feel it's definitely worthwhile. I don't have to worry about shipping and other people who are NPIP can buy from me and stay in compliance with the program

I don't ship birds, but when I sell them locally I can sell to other NPIP members. I think it also gives buyers confidence that the NPIP members are trying to maintain a healthy flock. Granted, lots of people take excellent care of their birds and aren't NPIP and have just as healthy birds as I do. It's personal preference to join the program or not- it's not mandatory.
