Yay!!I CAME HOME TO 3 EXTERNAL PIPS!! ITS NOT LETTING ME POST PICTURES RIGHT NOW, BUT I WILL KEEP YALL UPDATED!!! MUST WATCH AND WAIT!! (i use both the Mobile and the Desktop to post pics 'n' neither of them are letting me post pics).
I keep a couple wet sponges in my bator so when I open if my humidity drops like that I just rewet my sponge(s) and stick it back in there. I hatch at 75% but there are times especially if I am in or out repeatedly, it'll drop below that 60% I use as a guidline. Don't be paranoid, especially if there are no active pippers. If there are active pippers just keep an eye on the membrane and if it starts to turn yellowish/brown, then moisten it and chceck the inner membrane to make sure it doesn't dry on the chick.I'm on my second hatch. The first one didn't go well but this batch looks good. I have four babies that hatched and one that I knew was good when I candled before I put them into lock down mode. The other babies keep kicking the egg so I tried to open the Bator a hair so I could move the egg where I can see it. Because of that the humidity dropped to 50. Now I'm getting paranoid. What do I do?
Oh, I keep my sponges wet wet during hatch....lolGet a paper towel. Fold it up and dip it in warm water. You can also use a sponge. When you open the lid always have one ready and put it in and close the lid. This guarantees you humidity won't stay down for long. Make sure the water is very warm though. Also don't keep it to wet just more damp. Good luck.![]()
Great! Congrats! Looks like you have another getting antsy to come out too.
