Hands on hatching and help

That's the problem with setting at different times. You have a couple options. If you don't have another incubator or hatcher to move some to, You can raise the humidity when the first batch is supposed to be raised and stop turning those eggs, then drop the humidity back after they hatch. Or you can wait an extra day or two, until they start pipping, then crank up the humidity, and just leave it up till they all hatch. For me, it would depend on how the air cells of the later eggs look.

I didn't want to do two batches at different times but I had to. What is best: to keep the eggs rotating or to stop rotation? I'm so afraid I'll mess the new eggs up

. Would it be ok to raise the humidity, will it not hurt them too bad? I was originally told to keep them turning from a family member. I thought about once most of them are piping put the first batch of eggs in a styrofoam box with wet sponges for moisture and a heating lamp. But not sure if it would be a good enough plan to work out safely.

Possible malpo on my first pipper. I know it looks like maybe it's just a low pip and a big draw down (and it might be) but when I checked it this morning the draw down wasn't much past my last line so I'm wondering......

Looks like a good strong pip though, so hopefully it will zip fine.

Are they laying down already, or were you incubating them upright?

And how far apart did you set them exactly? I mean how many days.

Not laying down yet. I have 2 days till lockdown. I'll look at the dates in a minute to see how far apart they are.

X2 @ Tashaf you have to stop turning the ones that are time ready so that means all the eggs . I would run lower on the humidity though. Don't go cranking it up to 70% If all the eggs are past day fourteen and have well developed air cells it really shouldn't hurt them and if not hand turn the ones that need turning. Use Rubys picture as a reference as to air cell size and shape at lock down . Depending on you Incubator LGs and FIs and Hovabators have turners you can take out some of the rails. It's a pain but it can be done . If your going to continue to do split hatches better get a second incubator.

Hi i have a question I'm on day 16 of incubation with 3 call duck eggs and I candled them today an one looks a little different from the others. I'm worried that he has died bc when I candled him I saw veins but only on the side facing me and it looked like a little blood streak was forming also. Also his air cell isn't as big as the other 2 and he's not as big as the others either. Help please

I have 2 days and my air cells aren't that big I believe. What to I do??
