Hands on hatching and help

On the maran, it died on day 18-19, but had a decent air cell size. The EE was malpositioned and had a major scissor beak. It also had abnormal sized air cell as well. I'm sad about the outcome, but glad it isn't hatch, since I already have two sissies beaks to worry about.

Midway into Day 19 for my 26 shipped sizzles and I see 2 pips! Man it's going to be torture at work today! I'm so excited!

Hey you guys, do you leave your newly hatched in the inky until it's dry? Or do you move them to the brooder right away? I have a baby hatched while was at work and he's peeping away in there and two others are pipped.

I think most on this thread pull them when there is a break in the action. Some more quickly than others (Amy has an evil chick-biting fan lol!)

No harm done, if you do it quickly and carefully, as long as your humidity re-stabilizes quickly.

Thank you!!! I have three more pipped now. Hurray! I will pull the little paint baby out as soon as the brooder is warmed up enough. I didn't expect any of this until tomorrow at earliest! Silly me.

Like WV said, many wait until they are dry and pull them when there's a break in the action. I pull mine as they become active in the bator. I have had too many get hurt in there.

After that nerve wracking guinea hatch I sent that old bator back to my sisters! I am claiming the income from the pension for taking care of my father this past year, so if my taxes are accepted and I get my refund, I will be getting my Hovabator in another month or so. I did my own taxes, which I have never done, and I had to do section c for self employed, so I am just hoping I did it right....lol Hopefully I'll know in a few days. Now that's not saying I'm not going to be pulling them early, but I think I won't stress about it as much. I'm hoping to get it in time to do a hatch in March to test it and see what I'll get with the silkies, and then a hatch for Easter.

Four hatched but one died like 5 minutes later. No idea why. One second he was chirping and fine next dead. No assist in hatching. No blood. No extra yolk. Clean shell. So weird. Poor sweetie.
