Congrats!!! Any more pipped or hatching yet??

That's great! They are so cute.

Were the chicks extra wet or dry? It could have been a difference in the shell quality and moisture loss.  If they were all from the same hen it could be an egg quality issue or it could be as simple as shipped eggs have a higher occurance of mortality even with fully developed chicks.
Congrats on the hatchers, that's a pretty good rate shipped, and sorry about the others.

Yes I was happy with how many hatched.....of course 100% would have been nice.

Yes they were shipped eggs.....they set for 24-48 hours after unpacking before I put them in the bator.

Did they start turning right away after you put them the incubator? Trust me, all of us that do shipped get extremely frustrated at how many fully formed chicks die after lockdown.

We have 4 strong ducklings and 2 weak little fighters! Last one piped last night. So we may get 7 out of our set of 8! This first time has been exciting and exhausting!

Great pics!!! Thank you for posting them. So I've had this happen to me a few times now. See how there was crust around the beak and pip? That's what's happened to me. One time was due to using my new octagon 20 for the first time and humidity plummeted over night. That chick had swallowed so much of that crust/golden glue, that it didn't make it. The other two times it happened to me is when the chicks pipped but took an extremely long time to zip (almost 48 hours) but blood vessels were very prominent so there was nothing I could do. Although in the 2 latter instances my humidity was good. What causes this, besides low humidity?
