Hands on hatching and help

I had four chickens hatch fine, then two that got stuck. I tried helping one and didn't see any blood and was very careful like the article said to be but we ended up losing the chick. The second one we were able to get out of the egg but she lays straight out. I'm syringe feeding her because I don't want her to starve and she has been out of the egg for a day. What can I do to help her? There was a lot of green (looked like poo) in the bottom of the egg with her. It has turned her a greenish color. Ive rinsed her under warm water to try and clean her up and immediately put her back in the incubator as soon as I towel dried her off. Do I need to continue to let her stay in the incubator or can I put her under a heat lamp now?

Awesome save! You can tell she wasn't going anywhere w/o help. Love to see positive assists. How's she doing now?

We have 4 strong ducklings and 2 weak little fighters! Last one piped last night. So we may get 7 out of our set of 8! This first time has been exciting and exhausting!

They are beautiful! Congrats!

So my 4th attempt at hatching was successful! Last night we all got to witness our first baby breaking free and it was amazing. That was about 10:15- started really zipping about 9:57. After that everyone started rokcing in their eggs! I had to assist my little cracked egg (cochin/silkie mix) (cracked on day 8) as it was havin some trouble--- scariest thing- but I got the egg out, wet q tips, laid in a warm wet towel and went to work--- I got him half way out and realized he was still a little attached to the bottom part of the egg and there was a tiny bit of bleeding- When he was half out I got really nervous because his eyes were still fused shut. But, I did just what I read- I left him in the shell, did not try to pull him from it- then wrapped in a warm wet paper towel and back in the bator he went. I was pretty sure I would wake up and find him dead this morning. To my surprise and delight- not only was he up moving around and dry and had his eyes open- so did 3 other babies! So- we got 5/6 hatched - one last egg still in, no pips- not sure if it is alive, but it gets another day or so just in case. My 5 babies are enjoying their brooder now!

What are you feeding her. Honestly, if it's only been a day, I would not worry about getting any food into her. She has the yolk sac absorbed and that should sustain her for 48-72 hours. I would give her a couple drops of sav-a-chick water, though. How's she doing now, anymore active?

Isn't it so great when they make progress in their own?! A couple times I have started an assist and been sure that I would have to see it all the way through or that they would not zip on their own and then next time I go to the incubator, they are out. That's the best! Good work!

I totally missed Benson's post but I totally agree. I wouldn't worry about "food" but would be trying to get some electrolyte enhanced water or nutri drench in her.
