Hands on hatching and help

Ok never had a broody before, but is she about done raising the chicks? yesterday she wnet in raising cain only let the hens laying or sitting on nests stay in the stall so her chicks could be in there, today she had them almost out to the pasture when the roo cam up pecked one of the babies lightly and she started to squat for him?

Good question. I'm on my first broody! Well, 2 of them. An OEGB and a duck! So I can't answer your question, sorry. I figure someone else here knows, but you could also try this thread. Lots of good "broody" folks.

She sure is a good momma she's a barred rock that had eggs from most of the chickens under her, she wouldn't accept the 2 days olds later though

Yes, I agree with Friday, just keep them in the brinsea. Are you able to get good humidity in the 20 for lockdown? I just hatched almost 30 eggs in the 20! I didn't think all the ones I set would make it to lockdown but they did...talk about cramped! :gig (and they did fine). I had an egg like that. Can't remember if it was malpositioned or not but it took forever and every time I checked it had huge veins, so there was abstnothing I could do. It started getting all sticky because the pip hole that it made was very large and exposed a lot of the inside of the egg. I just had to wait and wait and wait. You're doing a great job!! Yes, cake pics, please! Congratulations!! I just love the looks they make with their eyes. It's almost like their facial expressions change by the look they give you. So much personality with that one in your pics! I love it! My lo got a little brave yesterday. It was time to go inside and usually when I start walking he follows and cries till I pick him up but this time he didn't want to go in and made me chase him!... He is an official teenager now.
Gotta love the teen stage, lol... plus, as a loner he will be a lot more stubborn... and spoiled means he'll think he can always get his way, lol...
Left for work and my wrong-end-pipper has not made progress, but is still alive. About 20 hours since pip, so I guess I'll start assisting this afternoon, if it isn't out on its own. A few pics of the others: (bantam cochins - blue frizzle father, cuckoo mother) 3 boys Biggest boy, I think he hatched first. Super friendly. This girl got her daddy's blue coloring, I'm assuming girl since no white head dot. She's grumpy! lol @RavynFallen could this still be male with no head dot? (barred mother) Or does anyone know? I'm awful with genetics! And this little girl has some star gazing issues. Doing better this morning, but I'm getting nutridrench today, hoping I'm not too late to fix her.
WV, it was just discussed on the sex linked color thread... using blue with barred *might* cause indistinct head spots... but... if Katherine is for sure the mom, then all of her boys will feather out barred, and all her girls will not be barred... you just might have to wait to see some feathers first to make sure, but that will stay true...

I'm getting ready to put eggs down on the mesh in the incubator saturday is day 15, a bit worried did a candle the other day and one of the ameracuanas eggs looks to be twins, didn't see a double yolk though when I sat them.

Don't panic, just wait and see what happens. Might get out on its own.

Congrats on the pips!! Very exciting.
Thanks....okay, doing nothing..doing nothing......doing nothing.........

Thank you! A double would about kill me! Having enough trouble with what I have!

My flock apparently didn't read the chicken rules about anything, trying to get some eggs to eat and sell and seems only got 1-3 laying outta 17 lol cause everyone wants to sit on eggs

Just got home from Cody and I have 2 pips!  One is fine - right where I marked the "x" but the other is pipped in the pointy end of the egg.....PANIC

Congrats on the pips! :fl that the wrong side pipper makes it out okay.

As promised, duckling pictures!

And my little NN. She has the strangest little tufts of fluff right under her ears, tiny little black tufts. You can just see one of them in this picture.
