I was just wondering if Guineas come in white....maybe that M on the top of the eggs is a W...jest a thought...

They do, so that might be a possibility, but they would have written on the eggs upside down if that's the case. I don't mind white, or any guinea colors really, but pied is my favorite pattern and lavender and royal purple are my favorite colors, so I was really looking forward to these being what I bought

So I just checked all my Serama eggs. Day 15. Some look awesome, some look good, some look so-so, but none obviously dead. So yeah!

A couple air cells are still a bit questionable for me, for never having done shipped eggs before, but I'm pretty hopeful at this point!

I have not seen this one. Were you able to find any reviews on it? Also you might want to type it in and search BYC for any threads on it. It's always good to get extra tips until you've gotten used to it.

I'm slightly irate. I bought some guinea eggs from someone that were listed as being blue pied, lavender pied, and royal purple pied, which is exactly what I wanted. However, the seller included a nice handwritten note in the box with the eggs (which all made it intact) that said that these eggs were an assortment of all kinds of colors, and would include things like pinto, buff dundotte, slate, etc etc. I mean it's not like they sent me all pearl or anything but that's not what I bought. So I sent them a message asking if the note was wrong or if they did indeed send me a ton of colors. They haven't answered me and it's been two days.

I mean I'm not going to demand new eggs or my money back or anything, I just want to know what's in my incubator. I wish they would answer me. I'm giving them another day and then I'll resend the message in case they didn't get it.

False advertising!! I'm sorry but I only breed specific silkie colors and if I got eggs that were not those colors they would not be able to stay. So I think it's great that you're not to to bummed but that's really not acceptable. Write back.

Personally I think anyone in the business of selling hatching eggs would understand the need to know that you got what you purchased. Especially if there was no mention of substitutions prior to the sale.

Um, not for everyone it ain't!    I'm happy as all get out right now to have just finished cleaning and putting away the incubators and am in no hurry to drag them out again, I'll tell ya!  I had two dismal hatches and then one brilliant (at least as far as I'm concerned) hatch, and I'm content to leave it at that for this year.  

Gosh, everyone's chicks are so doggone cute!!  The ones I ordered from MPC have been out in the brooder in the run since they were 4 days old (hatched on Monday, received on Wednesday, evicted on Thursday) and they are doing great!  The older chicks (got them at 4 days old and they originally had the brooder) have been fully integrated with the adults in the flock since they were 4 weeks old, along with the only 3 I had hatch out of 39 eggs.  I think the Silkies will stay in a bit longer.  They seem so, I dunno, delicate or something.  Gonna take some getting used to, I think!

Because of you I had the guts to move 3 week old silkies outside in January!! I was nervous and scared and you told me they would be ok and they were. They gave up the mph after just a few nights. I've been amazed at how well they handle no heat. All of mine go out early now!

Shipped eggs can be so draining. It's like you're looking at crazy shaped air cells and just praying the chicks can figure it out! I set the local call eggs today. They had these tiny, tiny firm round circles for air cells (fixed in one spot too ) It was such a relief. I just laid them down and won't turn for the first 24 hours per storeys guide, and then treat them like normal (as if that's a crazy concept). I can't wait to see serama babies!!!

That's so nice to read....I know it's a far cry from the accepted wisdom of chick keeping, but it's been working for broody hens since the chicken-or-the-egg question first came up! I imagine these little stinkers will be ready to go out by Tuesday or so. All are eating, drinking, and know where to get warm, and the others already out there aren't that much bigger yet. But I'll keep a close eye on them at first. Feel like I have so much invested in them (not financially, but time and the ups and downs) that I want them in here for a few more days.

Katie was here with her face pressed to the brooder and she just fell in love with one little chick in particular. I'm not sure if it's the first one she held or what, but she's decided this one is named "Smudge" and it's going to be her special pet. That may change tomorrow. But guess what??? She's going to see about joining 4-H and use her special Silkie as her project! For a little girl with autism, this is HUGE!!

Off hand, do you happen to know what color I might get (and I know that's subject to surprise endings, as Amy's white-turning-gray chick shows!) out of a yellow chick with bright orange smudges on her head? I've got one of those and she's adorable! There's another one like that but her orange isn't as pronounced. In this photo, Katie's Smudge is the one standing tall with her back to the camera, and Ruby is the one right in front.

Forgot to quote the OP on that incubator, but there is a thread here on it. I saw one when I first started and considered it, but ended up going bigger.

And Ruby, you are soooo right about looking at the funky air cells, I'm wondering how the chick is going to position, and how I'm even going to lay them down! Some have rounded out nicely, but the weird ones are perplexing.
Happy you got more call eggs! And air cells in one spot, stuck there? Seems almost foreign, huh?
I know you though, you will get more call babies, if you have to try a hundred to do it! Hopefully 3rd time is a charm!

Dog house with momma ducks at 30% humidity meat thermometer 90 in water temperature outside of dog house 80 f inside 82 f on front back one at 80 f temp 90f and 35 but just put back one in 10 minutes ago so it might have to adjust from outside air to in dog house air no lights or heating pad or vaporizer or humidifier going at these time tell I can get the part. To we connect circuit board . Warm air cool air heat. Plus momma ducks. Equal to what when eggs laid. To what is the promising hatch rate. Physics and math to equal to Heath and safety of chicks and hens to ducks and duckings.

@Pyxis Did you get a response on your guinea eggs?

Your post reminded me that I sold some sebright eggs a few weeks ago (locally thru FB), tried to contact the buyer to see how her incubation was going a couple weeks in. Didn't get a response. They should have hatched by now, so I sent her another message. Still no response. I sold her 19 eggs for the price of a dozen (because she "said" she wanted 3 dozen more later) and I even delivered the dang eggs to her. You'd think she would have the courtesy to reply.
